I used to have one (and use) of those cast iron jaffle makers, no idea what happened to it but I think I dumped it when I got my first Breville sandwich maker many decades ago which made four at a time.
Before I left Canberra today my daughter made me an bacon , egg and cheese roll with BBQ sauce, I said, “Hold the Avo”, it was delicious and so healthy too
I went retro in my sandwich for school recently…
Sardine and Tomato paste and sliced tomato
It was delicious but then everything tastes divine in homemade bread!

My mum’s favourite sandwich was tinned salmon, cucumber and vinegar in brown bread too!
I remember my dad often made a cooked breakfast on winter Saturday mornings and he’d regularly request some bread to “mop it up” with. He would then sneakily pile all the remaining ingredients on to the bread and fold it up into a sandwich.
Variations on the theme would have contained bits of fried egg, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, beans, brown sauce and even fried potatoes and fried bread!!!
He would still use it to mop up the plate too
Peanut butter
Chips
Lettuce and tomato with 2 spring onions
Honey
Corned beef with tomato ketchup
Chicken and strong cheese
Fried egg with brown sauce
Fried sausages with brown sauce
