Wow, those look amazing!

My Australian auntie and cousins call toasted cheese sandwiches you make in a sandwich toaster “Jaffles” I bet that’s where it came from

My mother had a sandwich maker like that - used it on the gas rings.
Those snacks look really tasty.

I used to have one (and use) of those cast iron jaffle makers, no idea what happened to it but I think I dumped it when I got my first Breville sandwich maker many decades ago which made four at a time.

The BLT is always my first choice.

A plain fried egg butty, on doorstep thick bread with lashings of brown sauce and a lovely mug of coffee to wash it down.

Yummy.

I went retro in my sandwich for school recently…
Sardine and Tomato paste and sliced tomato
It was delicious but then everything tastes divine in homemade bread!

@Artangel
My mum’s favourite sandwich was tinned salmon, cucumber and vinegar in brown bread too!

Crisp in or crisp out?

If I bother with crisps at all, then it’s nearly always Cheese n Onion and they definitely go IN the sarnie

I remember my dad often made a cooked breakfast on winter Saturday mornings and he’d regularly request some bread to “mop it up” with. He would then sneakily pile all the remaining ingredients on to the bread and fold it up into a sandwich.
Variations on the theme would have contained bits of fried egg, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, beans, brown sauce and even fried potatoes and fried bread!!!
He would still use it to mop up the plate too :joy:
