We have the same type of construction not too far from my location. The Hindhead Tunnel under the South Downs.
They do it here too but also culverts under roads however snakes soon learn that there are easy pickings in culverts
Good to see also so many more wildlife corridors and margins… 
We have ropes across the road high in trees for red squirrels done by NTS seems to work as not seen any on road for ages no grey squirrel here
How thoughtful to the wildlife…
