I’m not obese either. I go into shops every day. I also pass loads of take aways with the queues half way up the street.
Sounds ghastly but not everywhere is like that.
Shhhh… Don’t tell Bread.
This is fascinating. I’d love to know who this majority of people are. Do they eat tinned produce or frozen? I’d only do that in an emergency. I do freeze food but it’s fresh when frozen. It’s only so it’s not wasted.
Ooops…
Unless it’s a small village, I don’t know anywhere that hasn’t got a McDonalds, SubWay, Fish & Chip Shop, Chinese, Kebab House, Pizza parlour, KFC, etc and also loads of Just Eat or other delivery drivers bombing around.
You only have to look at the supermarket ‘meal deals’ to see what people prefer to eat.
This is just a microcosm of part of society as seen by yourself .
It’s not everyone / everywhere by any means
I live in a village there are no shops at all .
The nearby town has a fish and chip shop a Chinese and and Indian .but there aren’t long queues at all .
Most people don’t live in takeaways they are too expensive .
They cook meals.
Meal deals are usually for office workers in mind who grab something’s for lunch .
They always offer a fresh fruit option as part of the deal .
In fairness meal deals are no deal at all.
Over priced crap sandwiches with an equally over priced plastic wrapped portion of yesterday’s chopped fruit.
What ever happened to making a packed lunch, it’s not exactly an art.
Your nearest town must be a vey small town if that’s all it’s got. Where I am we have hardly any office workers, but all the supermarkets and boots do meal deals.
There are approx 1,300 McDonalds in the UK and approx 1,009 KFC’s and 10,500 fish and chip shops

You make it sound awful I am glad I don’t live where you live .
… same in every high street in London, except the Fish & Chip shop, they are becoming few & far between. Sushi is popular, Wasabi being the main chain I think.
Not sure about being a majority but I must add to the number of those who eat a fair amount of shop/factory prepared frozen foods. I know most people here are pretty careful about what they eat but I never have been. I eat a lot of fresh fruit and veg. but microwaved frozen ready-meals must form at least half of my weekly diet. Seem to be OK on it. Feel good and still got lots of energy. All the problems I have had were caused by smoking, lifting heavy items and sun-bathing. Nothing that could be put down to eating frozen or tinned meals for years.
Glad I’m in Sussex!
I bet there’s lots of chippies down there.
It’s not just where I live, it’s all over the UK. I don’t actually use them, can’t remember the last time I had a take away, but it goes on and as I said, a lot of people have them delivered these days too.
I’m shocked by the number of Costas
There are a total of 13,540 Costa Coffee locations in the United Kingdom as of April 18, 2023.
There are a total of 10,966 Costa Express locations in the United Kingdom as of April 18, 2023

Our friends whose allotment I help look after come around once in a while for a curry bought at the local takeaway shop.
We haven’t got a Sushi place in our actual town, but there’s one in Exeter 25 min drive away. There’s loads of fish and chip shops and we have posh fish restaurants too.
I hate to say it but not as many as there used to be.
What happens in London and all that.
Loved the good old chippies in Stepney and Mile end back in the 70’s. The true tang of salt and vinegar…Oi Oi saveloy!
They used to be everywhere in London, no longer.
