Brexit benefits - where are they?

If providers now have to register in two different systems then that will be double trouble & duplicate costs. These costs will be passed to consumers in both markets.

The problem is if you buy from China they gain power, but f you don’t buy from China the world economy is adversely affected.

It’s not an actual trading deal though is it.

This is something I have noticed changing in the last year or so. Relaxation of data protection, rules to protect our identity etc. Apparently AI and data protection was one of the things being discussed by Biden and Sunak in today’s meeting. But it appears that we want to move to paying lip service to the principles. It’s not an explicit change but what is happening that as corners are cut the details are being lost.

I have read (in the EU regulations) that it is not the non-EU producers that have to register to EU-REACH but the importers in the EU. Still the costs have to be passed to somebody, as you said.

I saw parts of an interview with R. Sunak yesterday. The interviewer asked about why Biden should cooperate with the UK when it comes to AI:

“how do you convince the president who might be tempted to ring up the European Union or talk to other global players?”

R. Sunak then responded: “I think that we should have confidence in our country being a leader when it comes to AI”

Interesting response…

Oh ho

The UK’s biggest trading partner (by country) is the USA. The EU is not a country.

You only export to one country though, why register in the country you are already in ?

Its more of a WEF pact

I am waiting for 2 metres of 30mm webbing as well as 10 Mosfet 15amp switches to arrive from China. I used to buy a lot directly from China but they are no longer as cheap as they used to be. I only need a couple of those Mosfet switches but as is often the case buying in bulk is actually cheaper.

The image is from an Aussie site selling two for twice as much as the cost of 10 from China.

That is the most pathetic way of confirming that you were wrong by trying to pretend you were right. Much the same as your judgement on so many issues: Truss, Trump, Brexit, etc. etc.

Nice try.

The EU is not a country. If you add up the 27 countries the UK trades with collectively then yes, you’re right, the EU is our biggest trading partner (unless you count the rest of the world), but on a country by country basis, the USA is far greater than the EU.

The only has significant trade with a few EU member states as well and besides the EU is a declining market.

Also bear in mind the EU exports more to the UK than we export to it, our single market is of far greater value than the EU single market is to us, hence the decline in trade since we left and established trade deals far more beneficial with other countries and other trading blocks.

Your posts:

Post 1607: The EU trading block isn’t our biggest customer - we trade more with the USA and the rest of the world.

Post 1621: Our biggest trading partner is the USA. The biggest single market the EU trades with (outside of the EU) is the UK.

Post 1639: We trade mostly in services, add those to your figures

Post 1667: The UK’s biggest trading partner (by country) is the USA. The EU is not a country.

I actually suspect that you consider your own arguments to be considered, consistent and cogent. Of course, in reality they are none of these things – just random claims followed by twisting ad hoc changes ending up in a whole different rationale.

You clearly stated that the entire EU bloc is not the UK’s biggest customer. When the facts conflicted with that you tried to claim that the US figures did not account for services. When the facts demonstrated that they did you then decided that the facts were not valid because the EU is not one country. Which is funny as you started off by saying that the “EU trading block (sic) isn’t our biggest customer”.

I could point out that the EU establishes bloc-wide trading agreements and so it is very reasonable to see the EU as one customer. But I do not have to. I only need to show that you are full of BS. And worse, you do not have the grace or decency to apologise for your errors.

I was talking about multinationals. They are the entities most likely to affect the prices of goods for an average consumer.

# EU ‘breakfast directives’ mean UK jam makers face recipe changes

Proven liar Johnson lies about his lies. Same as when as a journalist for the torygraph he made up stories about EU legislation.
Another story could be that obesity is possibly the biggest health challenge of our era. That or diabetes. Saturated sugar foods are a major factor in both. But EU hating Brexit fans want both problems to continue unabated. Ta. Your good works are noted.

What exactly are you complaining about? Wouldn’t you like your jam to contain more fruit? Seems like a rule change very much to the consumers benefit.

Australia’s food code says that to be labelled a “Jam” it must contain at least 40% fruit and most contain up to 70% fruit but this EU directive is a good step surely?
