Brexit benefits - where are they?

Hi

If we rejoined it would mean changing to the Euro.

Yes, Brexit is a mess, but entirely due to our Politicians.

Boris and his oven ready Brexit Deal has given us all a bad case of Food Poisoning.

So what’s new ?

Spaffed up the wall during covid

Omg there you go again, discussing the publications rather than the actual article. They were reporting on a report from Politico and I’m sure a quick google will give you the information you need to either confirm or deny:

And what about this or was the Guardian having an off day:

When you voted to leave did you really think that things would change over night. How many of the predictions that the remain campaign have come to fruition.

How long does a marital divorce take, it takes years especially if children are involved and it’s an acrimonious divorce, so why do you think that Brexit should be any different.

This is something those who are against Brexit failed to comprehend wendeey - they just don’t appear able to see the bigger picture. The analogy you use is spot-on!

I wasn’t predicting the future, I’m not Mystic Meg for goodness sake! I was simply giving my opinion, explaining the way I see it personally and that these large changes take time. As you seem able to see into the future maybe you could share what you see.
Btw, it’s immaterial to me what you think of my personal opinion - I neither like nor dislike what you said, it’s simply the arrogance in the way your point was made that astounds me!

The original comment, here repeated by Muddy and taken out of context, was in response to a comment made by another contributor and wasn’t intended to suggest that others shouldn’t discuss the issues - I wouldn’t be so arrogant as to suggest such a thing!

How quick you are to call people petulant or arrogant if they don’t agree with your erroneous perceptions .!

I voted to remain .
I agree not everything prophesied by the remainers has happened.

From what I’ve read the U.K. has and still is performing badly against other G7 countries , possible due to the trade barriers.
Coupled with lack of investment and productivity the UK is becoming and uncompetitive.
Apparently Britain is now 5.5 per cent poorer now than it would have been had it stayed in the EU,

Yes it might eventually turn round for the better, however, I don’t believe in our lifetime or possibly our children’s…

Your arrogance doesn’t lie in your disagreement with what I said but in the way you conveyed it. I don’t think anyone who disagreed with Brexit is arrogant - they are as fully entitled to their views as I am to mine. However, it’s the sign of a losing argument if arrogance and petulance are used to present a point of view opposing someone else’s.

It’s a sign of a losing argument when you indulge in personal attack which you have done by calling other posters petulant and arrogant , kindly desist .

Oh dear, sorry if I hit a nerve, I’ll say no more now.

You didn’t hit a nerve .
It’s a social forum not the meaning of life .
You lost your cool the minute someone challenged your post, that’s ok it happens have a good day

So much for setting this discussion aside for a bit !

It is surely clear that anyone trying to implement Brexit was going make things worse. You do not step away from a bang next door trade agreement with the richest bloc and expect things to get better. You don’t switch off ‘just next door’ immigration that filled key jobs and expect things to improve. I don’t even have to mention the Good Friday Agreement. You can’t expect salvation from a bunch of new trade agreements that so clearly do not add up (even all together) to a decent percentage of the trade you’ve lost with your neighbours. You cannot expect thanks from academics if you turn your back on one the world’s largest academic R&D programme. And the one that could still happen - you can’t rip up 40 years worth of standards & regulations in a few months and not expect some serious errors (and further serious impact to trade).
There is not a genius politician in the world who could conjure up a positive Brexit deal. Blaming the politicians, and the politicians now blaming the civil servants, is avoiding the reality of what was inevitable once the UK decided to leave the EU.

Ripple do you ever read anything that doesn’t agree with your wish to see Brexit fail. Did you read my post 1517 which goes to show that what you’ve just repeated is full of bull.

Also how does anybody know that we’re 5.5 per cent poorer than if we’d have stayed in the EU, this is the same sort of bull the remainers were making in the Brexit debate before the referendum.

Pipsqueak it’s best just to ignore all her insults, she can’t have a conversation, she just throws random insults around either regarding publications or members on here who don’t agree with her way of thinking.

What 40 years worth of standards and regulations have the UK ripped up, because I think you’ll find that because we haven’t some of the Brexiteers are annoyed. Not me I might add, I think it all takes time.
