Brexit benefits - where are they?

And where have I said that I have. That’s why I never took any notice of the forecasts that the remain camp said and Martin Lewis also said the same as me.

I’ve never known a predicted forecast to come right. And now the pandemic and Ukrainian war has thrown them even more off forecast.

I refer you to my previous post:

The data is out there people. In 2018, there were 98,000 applications from mainland UK for Irish passports. By 2021 a total of 420,000 Irish passports were issued to Brits since the referendum. The demand for Irish passports will continue as travel and domicile restrictions limit time spent in the EU and the ability to work in the EU.
Of course, there is a big number of eligible UK citizens who have no need or desire to obtain an EU passport. Most people limit visits to EU countries to a couple of weeks a year. So its not surprising that most of the eligible 6.7 million have not applied.
What is more interesting would be to look at the numbers of Brits who have a need to travel and live in the EU. Second home owners and people who have or wish to move to a EU country full time. There’s about 1.2 million UK citizens living across the EU. Then there are about 300,000 second homes owned by Brits in Europe - which probably equates to 600,000 people. So the stark data is the percentage of these who got an Irish passport - a high 25%. High because across the whole population the number of eligible people is only 10%.

Why would I do that? I’m sure I heard the stamping of your foot when you wrote that!

I didn’t actually call Maree mean spirited I simply said that what she said about my generation made her ‘appear mean spirited’. Please try to read the posts more carefuly!

Read posts more carefully !
I didn’t say you called Maree anything , I said you shouldn’t call PEOPLE mean spirited .

Oh dear, is that a hair I see splitting?? Just to be clear, I didn’t call anyone, people or otherwise, mean spirited. I get the impression that you could start an argument in an empty room!

This post was addressed to Maree . I think everyone is quite clear on its intention which was to insult .
Please let us discuss these matters with civility .

I have no more to say on the subject, I refuse to indulge your need to argue.

That’s fine just stick to a civilised discussion .

The DM is not the home of serious journalism. It just prints what the Tories tell it to churn out for the gullible plebs .

Thought you were one who picked up others when they derailed threads. Is it a matter of do as I say, not as I do.

Please keep on topic where are the benefits ?

Stop evading the issue by posting Tory propaganda from the Daily Mail and other red tops.

Hurrah

We have our blue passports back ( although they are nearer black and are now worth less than they used to be )

We can go back to imperial measures thereby making the lives of todays school children more miserable .

And OMG we can use the.Crown stamp on pint glasses again !

That is the funniest document I have read this far. Full of Tory aspirations, not a single one of which are going to materialise. I’ve never seen such a feeble attempt at Tory propaganda in my entire life.

The verdict is in Brexit has been, however you look at it a total disaster.

Leave voters should be hanging their heads in shame at the country they have created for their grandchildren. Instead of accepting responsibility for this mess they mount further ridiculous and flimsy defences.

Just stop, you’re embarrassing yourself.

I read this morning that 321 MPs have Irish passports. I’m not sure if they were obtained before or after Brexit.
