Thanks for the review @realspeed. It’s a mystery why modems/routers don’t have sockets for extension aerial wires which can be nigh on invisible and tucked down (eg) between a carpet edge and skirting board.
I looked into how to extend the aerial for my Virgin Modem and it’s doable, but a right old faff which would require breaking seals to gain access and thus invalidate warranty and/or make me liable should I have to return it when I change contracts.
Thank you for your comment Dex. My thinking is it is not aways the transmitter causing a poor signal but a poor receiver. This is why I went for a better receiver first. Finding the right one for your computer does need a fair bit of research but worth doing
Longshot, and will mean no chance of returning them and totally invalidating warranty, but is there any mileage in butchering it and extending the wiring from the PC to the new antennae? I suppose if it only cost a tenner then worth a punt out of curiosity. But £25ish. Hmmm!!
My cousin in law was a building developer and owned several buildings he let out. Sue and I, soon to be married, just could not get somewhere to live. Gasumping was rife and proprties sold before being on agents books. He came to the rescue as he had a small house he was reniovating . He did it up and let us have it at the price he bought it for plus the work he had done on it. Cost £7,500 way back in 1972 for a middle of three terraced house. So that is how we got onto the housing ladder.
Good to be able to look back and remember those times such as shutting the front door for the first time and keeping the world outside. IT WAS OURS
That was a great feeling RS, if you could gloss over the 25 year mortgage that was up ahead. We started home ownership in 1986 and it was ours circa 2014
@realspeed my signal booster for our 4 floor house cost around a fiver delivered and works very well (easy to set up) with the top floor receiving a full signal according to the loading bar.
