Bodyguard - new series

I’ll not spoil it for those recording it,but I’ll bet no one saw that coming.

What… That or that?

Well, I never. It’s all going on behind closed doors with the Home Secretary and her Body Guard making rampart love after the attempt on her life.

Of course, we all know what MP’s get up to .dodon’t we?

Look forward to the next time.

My bodyguard is black and white.

In the real world,

Bodyguards are often self employed. They get their work via word of mouth / reputation. Some get work via agencies.
Many are good at hiding ptsd when in the field.
Ptsd / personal problems etc are widely exaggerated in the movies - they are not remotely all like that at all.

I like the way he’s chosen to model himself on Arnold Schwarzeneger in the Terminator, or is it just me.

I don’t see the Schwarzenegger comparison at all Ray but have to admit I have never rated Arnie as an actor and I think the acting in this is brilliant.

I had to hold my breath in some scenes too…I’m totally hooked…great drama

Totally unbelievable story line , I remember now why I avoid modern drama series and won’t be continuing to watch.

That woman is a trollop.

So funny Muddy…aye she is a trollop but i bet most of us wouldnt mind being a trollop with him

It had record viewing last night by the way 6.9 million…that’s a lot apparently:)

Let’s not forget this is fiction to be enjoyed ,not to pick holes in .
Jed Mercurio is well known for his Line Of Duty plots that twist and turn and in some respects they’re unbelievable but hey it’s entertainment and very enjoyable at that .

Don’t see any reason to call a woman probably in great shock wanting to be held a trollop .

That’s the first thing I said to Mrs LD, he looks like a young Scw… Sc… Arnie.

I think there was a bit more than ‘holding’:lol:

My opinion so far (for what it’s worth) is that there are some really great gripping scenes followed by long bouts of boredom.

The lovemaking scenes were very tastefully done tho ?
I wasn’t bored by anything ,cant imagine where you found it On the whole an hour’s excellent viewing .

I was being tongue in cheek when I agreed she was a trollop Zuleika in a real life situation I agree she would be a very vulnerable and scared woman. I would lose respect for a man in his position to take advantage of that.

Luckily its fiction so I can look past that… and he is a bit of a dish

I don’t find him particularly attractive, just sort of ok’ish if you like hunky types .

On your other point he has an agenda ,considering what he was told he had to do by his mate , so getting up close and personal with her might make it easier. She gave him there an undreamed of opportunity.
I think his intention is to protect his family . He didn’t like her evasive answers when he asked how she knew about the school ?

I watched both episodes last night and found it really gripping.

Watching ep 1 now (downloaded as didn’t realise it went out on Sunday). Probably busy with the dog. No subtitles so having to guess at some of the dialogue, especially as during that first tense scene, she was noisily chewing an empty plastic bottle (making a lovely loud crinkling sound). Thankfully she has decided to sleep now so I can concentrate.

I didn’t think they had any chemistry between them at all. Maybe it was meant to be like that I don’t know.

I just thought numerous scenes of Dave/David staring at people was a bit tedious. I thought the action scenes were great though.

I watched the second part today. It’s keeping the tension going well plus it’s adding new events and happenings to keep the viewer interested, not to mention being compelled to watch. I can’t take my eyes off the screen for a second.

The characters are believable too. Keeley Hawes is always excellent - the scene where she was cowering for dear life in the footwell of the car was brilliantly acted. Her nervousness and fear immaculately portrayed.

As for some on here saying that the programme is rather far fetched, there are two sides to that:

  1. The BBC make entertainment programmes. They make highly watchable dramas and they are in business to keep viewers.
  2. Who says this doesn’t happen in real life? Does anyone have prior information that say, a bodyguard who is working protecting senior government officials in Israel, Syria, Bosnia in war torn countries…doesn’t work like this? Of course he does. That is what he is trained for. These people are former or serving SAS personnel, this is what they do. Viewers like us from other walks of life cannot simply try to analyse what we are watching and dismiss this kind of thing as fiction. It happens, we just don’t see it in out everyday lives of course.

A superb programme.
