You’re looking very fit there Bob ![]()
Did Mrs Fox deliberately place you infront of that conifer spike?
It looks like you’re sporting a trendy Mohican hairstyle ![]()
Glad you’re enjoying you’re holiday ![]()

Not everyone can get away with that look, OGF; you are looking fit as a fiddle and putting some in the younger generations to shame!
Ah, but such a brilliant observation, Mags. Indeed Bob, you may to live that one down a bit, I’m afraid.
With that physique, while no doubt shooing away admiring fans who were flocking about suspecting you to be a former Olympic swimmer, the telltale tan lines at your ankles give you away as a marathon man :-).
Hope you continue to enjoy your vacation…and rock on! http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/hand-gestures/devils-horn-smiley-emoticon.gif
Thanks Mags and Surfermom, I suspect the mischievous Mrs Fox knew exactly what she was doing when setting up the shot…:shock::shock:
About five miles from the hotel in a pretty forest glade lies the ‘Little Chapel’ It was built around 1914 by Brother Deodat Antoine of the Order of de la Salle. It is reputed to be one of the smallest chapel’s in the world measuring nine foot by six foot and can accommodate four worshipers at once. He spent years decorating it with Shells, Pebbles and broken China, most of which was donated to his project when it was reported in the Daily Mail…(Well alright then, not the daily mail)…
As I said earlier, it must have taken him years, but then Monks haven’t got a proper job have they. Anyway, he left the island in 1939 at the outbreak of war and left it unfinished and he never returned.
So Mrs Fox and me decided to walk it there this morning, and besides taking a photo for the forum we spent most of our time in the Jewellry shop next door. It hadn’t changed much since the last six times we have visited it, except for the bloke sat on his stool doing some restoration work and I understand it has now been supplied with electricity…

Just time to take this photo before we caught the bus into St Peter Port and a delicious Crab Sandwich…

Lovely to see your piccies and holiday reports Foxy, you sound to be having a great time. Don’t be in a rush to get back to Yorkshire, lots of rain and flooding!
What a beautiful little Chapel…
Apparently not a very relgious bunch, those Guernseyans
, but a remarkable and lovely life’s work.
Looking happy and relaxed, OGF. Keep the photos coming!
Doesn’t sound too good back home Val, I’ll practice a bit more swimming, it sounds like I’m going to need it. Thanks Mags, for a minute there I thought you said “What a beautiful little Chappie”…:-D:-D:-D
Well that’s this mornings seven miles out of the way, managed to get out of bed a little earlier and was out on the road for 6:15am which was good as it happens, because with a clear blue sky and the sun just coming up it would have been too hot if I had left it any later. And as my legs are getting used to the hill work I managed to knock over a minute off Tuesday’s time…
Two days off now, next run will be Sunday so I will have a lie in…
Breaking News…
Two cruise ships are anchored offshore, I think one might be the Cunard ship Queen Mary 2…As we are visiting the castle this morning I’ll have a better look …
That goes without saying Bob ![]()
Just five minutes walk from the hotel and you find yourself on the Coast Path. Although Mrs Fox swore last year that she would not attempt the five mile walk to St Peter Port along this rugged, sometimes steep undulating path again, the promise of Tea and cake in the little cafe about half way at Fermain Bay was too much to resist…

In Guernsey they have a novel way of culling the elderly population…Every day at noon they fire this cannon from the ramparts of Castle Coronet. The noise is deafening and following it’s loud discharge several deceased members of the community who were caught unawares are removed from the cobbled pathway just below…:-(:-(

Among some of the exciting events that took place on the Island yesterday was a visit by the Cunard ship ‘Queen Elizabeth’…Once again it was impossible to travel anywhere by bus as they were all swamped by the visiting passengers who’s numbers were probably greater than the population of the Island…Mrs Fox and me took to the hills and visited the Museum for lunch. It’s high up on a steep climb and I guessed that those who survived the cannon would not be fit enough to tackle the hill…

Oh…I almost forgot…There was another ship that visited yesterday ‘The Marco Polo’ but it looked so insignificant at the side of the ‘Queen Elizabeth’ I didn’t think you’d be interested…

Sounds like you are really enjoying your holiday Bob, your photos are lovely … almost as if we are keeping an eye on you

Thanks Mags, it’s nice to share my experiences with everyone it gives me a purpose…
However, I had a small brush with gravity yesterday as we were walking down into St Peter Port, stepping off the edge of the path I suddenly found myself face down on the tarmac so we had to abandon our visit to the castle and return to the hotel to get cleaned up. I’m pleased to report that nothing is broken and the injuries seem to be be superficial, so it’s business as usual today…

Oh dear Foxy, stick to the tea and cakes and lay off the “falling down water”
Only joking,I hope it doesn’t hurt too much and you are soon healed!
![]()
Oh dear! … that looks sore Bob … and you’re still smiling! :-). I’m pleased it wasn’t more serious and you can still enjoy the rest of your holiday, just be careful where you’re walking now ![]()
Oh no Foxy, that does look sore, anyway good to hear there’s no real damage. Take more care and enjoy the rest of your holiday!
Oh, Bob, you are such a good sport! What a great attitude you have! I hope it doesn’t hurt terribly and I wish you speedy healing. Adventure begins when the first thing goes wrong, so now you are on an adventure for sure with a story you won’t soon forget.
You know this would never have happend if you had been running :-D.
Thanks everyone for your sympathy, I’d hoped it would at least get me a few drinks in the bar but no chance. I think they were on to my little game…
Yes it’s strange that Surfermom, I’ve had one or two spills in the past while out running - usually on rough surfaces or ice - and I’m a good faller, rolling into the fall or getting my hands down before my face. This occurred walking slowly on flat tarmac, my foot went over the edge of the path and the next thing I remember was waking up on the floor…
Business as usual this morning as I gingerly took on my seven mile run, Mrs Fox wasn’t happy about me going and people at the hotel thought I might be suffering from concussion, but I took on the hills and won…:-D:-D:-D…I think Mrs Fox was just jelous because I beat her at Backgammon the other night. We’ve never played before and I interpreted the rules…
After a walk down into St Peter Port this morning I was surprised to see runners on the marathon just finishing. It reminded me of old times and my best marathon time of just three hours would have got me fourth place here…:shock::shock:
Mrs Fox likes to get up early to do her exercises on the Hotel’s front lawn…Such a drama queen…

Apparently it was the hottest Bank Holiday on record yesterday here in Guernsey, and it was still quite warm as I set off at 6:15 am on my Tuesday morning seven mile run.
It soon became apparent that my legs were tired and the struggle up the steep climb out of St Peter Port took it’s toll. I managed to keep going over the remaining undulating roads, and even carried on past the turn off for the hotel for the lap around the monument to complete the seven mile course.
Mrs Fox has just nipped into the village while I write this blog, but I feel lethargic and not even breakfast seems to have helped with my recovery. Nine holes on the nearby ‘pitch and putt’ is planned for her return, but I feel every one of my sixty seven years this morning…
A steep climb down through the forest reveal secret little sandy coves like this one, ideal for some peace and quiet, and most of them have small tea rooms with Crab Sanwiches on the menu…

Mrs Fox recons that washing your hair in the rain does it the power of good…
http://www.over50sforum.com/picture.php?albumid=873&pictureid=10574
The finals of the Guernsey Mixed Open Golf Championships took place earlier today and I managed to obtain a copy of the score cards…That Rob bloke seems to be a quite impressive player…Yes?..

The weather has been outstanding for the last week or so but tomorrow all that will change according to the BBC Weather, so the waterproof coat that I’ve carried round in my rucksack all week will finally be of some use… I managed to recover after this mornings seven mile struggler, and after attending the Golf Championships managed thirty lengths of the hotel pool…So a long walk up to ‘Oaklands’ (A sort of small shopping complex at the other end of the Island) looks imminent (if I can ever get the smell of chlorine out of my skin)…Rain or no rain…

Just Wednesday and Thursday to go and then it’s home on Friday, I’ll be able to attend to forum matters more comprehensively as the internet coverage here is sh!£e so I’ve been limiting myself to ‘Bob’s Bits’ and twiddling my thumbs for ten minutes while a photo downloads…I hope you’ve all missed me, but fear not, good times, and Foxy, are about to return…:-D:-D:-D
What a nice round of blog entries and photos. I see that Mrs. Fox is in fine form…flexible and shampooed…and so terribly nice of her to let you win in pitch and putt!
It seems that you have recovered well from the Great Fox Fall of 2017, and I understand your need to get right back out there on the pavement. Swimming, golf, running, walking…it seems you have well-earned all the delicious fare that comes with holiday dining.
The scenery there is spectacular; I had no idea! If I made my way down to one of those pretty little coves, I might never come back…
Soak up the sun and fun!
