Foxy, it was 21° C at 5.30pm November 6th, what’s that all about?
think his bits have fallen off
As you well know Spitty, the climate is taken over a period of time and is an average and not based on a couple of weeks of hot or cold weather… ![]()
Bits fell off years ago when there was no further need for them…

I think that ships already sailed Yuval… ![]()
So lets have a look where our electricity is coming from tonight…
Gas turbines seem to be doing the heavy lifting again…
With 14% being bought in from elsewhere.
Biomass (Drax) and Nuclear are supporting well, but heaven knows where all that wind power is coming from, there’s not a breath of wind here…? Perhaps there are hurricanes along the west coast where all the offshore turbines are based.
They were bragging on the BBC earlier on in the year that on one day, the whole of the UK was being supplied with sustainable electricity…It was the middle of a hot summer afternoon though and everyone was supping cold drinks outside and cooking on the barbie.
Lets see how that stands up when the temperature drops to below freezing with just 4 hours of daylight and no wind…And people decide to turn up the heating, have a shower, make a mug of tea, and cook their evening meal.
A very prestigious cardiologist died, and is given an elaborate
funeral by the hospital he worked for most of his life…
A huge heart… covered in flowers stood behind the casket during the service,
the doctors from the hospital sit in awe following the eulogy,
The hearts opened, and the caskets rolled inside. The heart then closes,
sealing the doctor in this beautiful heart forever…
At that point, one of the mourners just -burst- into laughter. When all
eyes stared at him, he said, ‘I am so sorry, I was just thinking of my
own funeral… I’m a gynecologist.’ …
…
I came into this world naked and between a good woman’s legs…
And I hope to go out the same way Zac…
Businesses are claiming soon Customers are going to be paying the $12 billion a month tariffs!
That sounds like there are a few 1000 heart attacks a month away. Amazon already has removed
Archiving ones purchases back years. Some have already doubled in price.
Chucking it down with rain and just got back from my walk.
Looking out of the window now and the postman is just turning his van around in the street, we live at the bottom of a Cul-de-Sac so nowhere else to go…
It made me think of my last few years as a postman, I would have done it sooner if I’d known how good the job was. I suddenly realised it has been 15 years since I retired… ![]()
Where has that time gone?
I retired at sixty in 2010 and I wouldn’t say that retirement has been the best years of my life, but certainly the easiest.
It was a weigh day today, the day I jumped on the scales to see how heavy, or light I was.
I’m not obsessed with my weight, never have been, and I don’t have a regular weigh day. Just when I think it’s been a long time since my last visit to the scales…
10 stones and 12 lbs today…It’s been that same weight since I retired…More or less…

My father was a postman on foot for some years and I believe enjoyed the job.
My aunt was one too. I think that was maybe because of the war and the number of the fatalities.
I spent 35 years of my working life, the first 7 years as an apprentice Mechanical Engineer and then 28 years as a skilled toolmaker/machinist. I loved the work but at the same time, loved the great outdoors hence my hobby of fell walking and marathon running.
I got out of those factories at every opportunity, and into the wild unspoilt places the UK had to offer. So when redundancy happened, I took the money and bought a van and became a self employed courier. My running kit would always accompany me in the back of the van, and once the delivery was complete, I would find the nearest running course. Deliveries in Scotland and Wales were particularly interesting.
After 8 years of travelling around Britain, and a heart attack on the way, I decided to wind up the business and return to employment where an understanding Delivery office manager decided to give me a chance to deliver the Royal Mail. It turned out to be the perfect job for me, and even as a part time postman I actually earned more than I did as an engineer…
Hi Mr Bob. I do appreciate your history - interesting and informative,
Thanks Besoeker, sometimes it’s nice to sum up your life…

Yes, I agree. For me, I had the same job forever - just different places…)
If a person retires, with full physical and mental capability at their disposal, they probably didn’t love their job very much.
Would have been hell for TV detector vans then. Do they still have them?
I am not sure about that, I retired early not because I didn’t like my job but because I could and I had better plans. Best thing I did.
It would be good to pen a post work CV where folks could really say where they saw themselves in X number of years, de-bullshit the situation ![]()
