Black History Month

Hope this is in the right place.

As it is currently black history month, I thought that for a change, I’d actually read up on matters and increase my (extremely limited) awareness of “Black History”.

Naturally, my fist port of call was the freebie Kindle Unlimited books. The first one I considered was endorsed by Diane Abbott and the reviews suggested that there were several factual errors in it. Hmm, no surprises there then.

So, can anyone else recommend a good place to start to educate myself (and indeed others), especially for free?

You could do some online reading about Queen Sophia Charlotte. The first black queen of Great Britain. Born in 1752. Like our current royal family, she was of German descent.

You could also read up about the Tuskegee fighter pilots. The Red Tails. Who built up an amazing reputation as bomber escorts. But the USAF did not tell anyone they were black pilots, as that they thought would damage moral!
