Bexhill beach crowded

typical beach scene in Bexhill in winter. Taken this afternoon

yet finding a parking space in the carpark was not easy that was full

All shopping or in the pub I expect!
Seasides do look a bit forlorn and bleak in the winter, round here when the tide is out it looks like the end of the world!!

Is the car park near a station or something? Taking a wild punt at commuters parking in it and jumping onto a London train??

Probably wrong, but worth a punt.

@Maree, though you was a cockey lass?

I am, born and bred, lived there most of my life but now I’m in exile here to the West Country :sob:

no the main car park is right on the sea front, any closer and would be on the beach

No signs of any boats and people emigrating from the UK to France?:grin:

If its the one before you get to the Tunnel, which leads to the Beach, it use to be limited to a time scale…over that and your clamped, then the vehicle is lined up for taking away…
…think is was 3/4 hours as I remember back 7 years this is…families who wanted a day out at the Beach found the parking very difficult,
Ravenside Shopping Centre is almost on the beach… but if your caught parking in there and not shopping then the same clampers are ready for you…The clampers have a field day on nearby Boot Sales days which is on the green opposite Ravenside…One day we saw around 10 Clamped vehicles for parking wrongly in Ravenside. Some where foreigners, not realising their fete on returning to their Vehicles…

I don’t do the sea unless it’s warm like a bath ie tropical .

Some of my best memories are early walks along the Bexhill Sea front…
was so peaceful and so quiet, maybe just the odd dog walker and a jogger…

Might be a welcoming committee?

Apart from Brighton the only place in East Sussex I’ve visited is Herstmonceux nr Hailsham.A friend of mine had a market garden there.I did see Lord Hailsham on a tractor too.

hope you spelt it correctly as copied yours…
Bought a lovely Bramble Apple Tree from a nursery there as well…
I don’t know Lord Hailsham but will look him up now…,but guess if he can ride a tractor then we would get along…
How daft am I…just seen a photo of him…gosh of course I know him. :icon_rolleyes:

Thats Lime Cross I think…yes it was…arrh thats sad.
In recent years well before 2014 as moved here by then…They had done extensive changes and seem to have spent a small fortune on the Nursery.
Our amazing Monkey Puzzle Tree came from Limes…the quality of the plants and shrubs were one of the best around.
This old Photo shows a lot of the Shrubs and Trees from Limes Cross Nursery…Tates…The treasured Monkey Puzzle is the tallest, you should it see clearly…

Was a good location to live at one time, being so near to Bexhill Beach

It is ruddy bleak! I’m a cold water sea swimmer but even I give up when it’s this cold!

But some of them hardy souls here keep swimming all year :cold_face::cold_face::swimming_woman::swimming_woman:

I like warm tropical sea but can’t stand warm public swimming pools - it’s like getting in someone else’s bath water :bathtub:

Richmond swimming pool used to be the worse for this. Your eyes stung from chlorine even before you got into the pool and it was way too warm!!!

If it smells eye watering of chlorine it’s not cos there’s too much chlorine in it, it’s cos there’s a lot of nasties, pee, poo, sweat etc and the chlorine reacting with them is what stinks

(Why smelling chlorine at a swimming pool is a bad sign - and what that chemical smell actually is - Mirror Online)

Luckily @Maree, I learnt to swim in the outdoor pool in Chiswick and had little fear of cold water during the cooler months. (They had to close the pool over winter since there were a lot of tall deciduous trees around)

So, while everyone else was bathing themselves indoors in each other’s bodily fluids, I was happily swimming undisturbed lengths in the outdoor pool at Richmond.
