Today is the Bathurst 1000, it was something I watched with religious fervour when it used real cars but now it is fake V8 Supercars my interest has waned. I will probably have the TV on and watch it on and off. It is the one time of the year when my TV tunes to a commercial channel.
It is not like the good old days
Even the circuit has been ruined with concrete walls everywhere. My first visit to Bathurst in the 1960s a driver and car had to be rescued from drowning in a dam, it was all very exciting especially as racing continued with the rescue truck on the circuit, none of this pooffy safety car in those days.
This will also be the last year for the fake Holden to be racing, next year it will be a Chevy.
