I think a lot of it is initial excitement Rhian 
But the system does work slightly differently here too, whereas it shows people who were active over the last 30 or so minutes.
Also on the old site, if a user left the site open in a tab and say went out for lunch, it would consider them logged out after about 15 minutes, however here (and many of you have probably noticed this) but if you leave the forum homepage open, it automatically shows alerts that a thread has been replied to even if you’ve been away from the computer for a whole, eg:
The bit where it says See 11 unread topics. This is because on that page it keeps checking the site to see if there’s been any recent activity and alerts you with that banner if there is. Cool huh?
