Hi
I would seriously not enjoy dying on a sub.
Noises heard in search of sub. The expert in this video is encouraged. The noises are ones that would be heard in a stranded sub, banging for 3 minutes every hour. Encouraging signs?
I canât imagine the fear these people are going through stuck in a submarine waiting to die. Just horrific. It makes me wonder if the people who built this ever expected anything to go wrong and why there are no safeguards in place in case anything does. Thereâs no way Iâd board anything like this even if it were âfree.â Did none of them think to ask what could possibly could go wrong before boarding ?
-This submarine uses an Xbox gaming controller
-Is equipped with only one functioning button
-Has no radar or navigating equipment
-Is considered an experimental vessel, meaning itâs had no approval by any regulatory body
-It failed to meet a set of industrial standards for vessel safety
It also makes me wonder how safe it is for those trying to rescue this vessel and how many more lives could potentially be lost doing so.
Reports from people who have been in the Titan sub to go down to the Titanic wreck have said that passengers are warned of the things that could possibly go wrong and they have to sign a waiver in which they acknowledge the risk they could be killed or injured.
The waiver warns that
â This experimental vessel has not been approved or certified by any regulatory body.â
A writer called Mike Reiss was a passenger on the Titan sub dive to the Titanic wreck last year and he told a BBC Reporter this -
âYou sign a massive waiver that lists one way after another that you could die on the trip," he said.
"They mention death three times on page one and so itâs never far from your mind. You try to put it out.
"As I was getting on to the sub my thought was this could be the end.
"So nobody whoâs in this situation was caught off guard. You all know what youâre getting into.â
(The wording of that waiver would be enough for me to refuse to get into that vessel!)
IF the submersible is found soon:

How will they bring it to the surface if it has lost power and is at the bottom of the Atlantic?
If it is at depth, it may be stuck. One concern is that underwater currents may have swept it into some of the wreckage of the Titanic (this happened to a Russian submersible). A French vessel, equipped with a deep sea robot that can be deployed to search the depths at which the Titanic sits - about 3,800m - is en route to the search site and should arrive later on Wednesday. It will join a technically challenging race against the clock.
Any robotic vehicle that is deployed might need to help dislodge the sub, enabling it to float to the surface. Or there might be a need to cut away whatever obstacle has it trapped.
What happens if sub reaches the surface?
If the vessel did reach the surface, is there any way for the people inside to get fresh oxygen in or are they still reliant on the supply provided?
The hatch is bolted closed from the outside and the crew will be reliant on the air supply inside the vessel.
Any rescue operation at the surface though would be much simpler than a rescue at depth.
Iâve read that since writing my post and seriously think these people are bat crazy or have some type of death wish. One of them has been known to take serious risks in his pursuit of finding excitement and previously nearly lost his life in other crazy expeditions. There isnât enough money in the world that would have me even consider doing any such thing. Not a chance.
thinking of them
I hope they find them in time .
Indeed, otherwise the consequences are too awful to contemplate.
Itâs probably looking on the blackside and I hope it doesnât come down to it, but I would think running out of air wouldnât be a painful deathâŠRushing the survivors to the surface and depressurising too quickly would be thoughâŠ
"OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, whose Titan submersible took tourists down to see the seafloor wreck of the RMS Titanic, once told a reporter that âat some point, safety is just pure waste.â " And also that the US submarine industry was âobscenely safe, because they have all these regulationsâ.
Isnât it a shame that the sub canât be opened from inside?
This could be the worst news:
Debris field found - US Coast Guard
A debris field has been discovered within the search area by an ROV near the Titanic, the US Coast Guard has just announced.
Experts within the unified command are evaluating the information.
Coast Guard to give update on debris field at 15:00 local time
With the breaking news of a debris field being found in the search, US Coast Guard has announced it will hold a press conference at 15:00 local time (20:00 GMT).
I canât stop thinking of these men , Iâm so hoping they are safe and can be found but I have an awful feeling
I think I have the same awful feeling.
The ego involved to tempt fate like that. The ghoulishness of wanting to see Titantic up close. Like how much clearer will it be than on video? The absurd waste of money. The sleaziness of the company. More like a fable than reality. May their souls rest in peace and comfort to their loved ones.
When I first heard about the Titan submersible losing contact after an hour and three quarters into the dive, when it usually takes 2 hours to reach the seabed, I did have an awful feeling that it may have imploded before it reached the bottom.
I tried to think positive while the search and rescue has been ongoing and the fact that the Titan had lost communication on some of its previous dives and still re-surfaced OK made it possible to look on the bright side and hope the sub was still intact and would be located and recovered before the oxygen ran out.
To be honest, if it came to a choice between being stuck for 4 days at the bottom of the ocean, full of fear and panic, and finally dying through lack of oxygen and an instant death, as a result of implosion, which the human brain would not have time to register or the nervous system to feel, I think Iâd opt for the quick implosion on the way down, while I was still happy and cheerful and full of eager anticipation for the adventure ahead of me.
I felt the same way.
Even now, though, we are still in the dark. Maybe the submersible sank to the ocean floor and imploded a day or two later.
It seems likely, however, given the resources in the area, that any evidence of catastrophe will eventually be found and brought to the surface.
Perhaps, but the deseaced are unable to return and leave reviews on the finer points of passing on.
Dear God, could you imagine, Deathadvisor, an essential app for all our mobile phones.
Iâm sticking with Google Earth!
