Astra zeneca and EU?

Looks like the politicians have fell out with their doctors JBR!!
The EMA has given AZ a clear bill of health ???

 Donkeyman!

Some many conflicting opinions.

What to make of this claim.

Read further about a cheap drug that has now been found to be very effective against COVID-19, either as a prophylaxis to prevent infection from taking hold or as treatment after infection. The drug is Ivermectin, which is available as a generic drug or under the brand name Stromectol.

This drug has been around since the 1980s.

As the world struggles to find a cure to COVID-19, a group of Australian researchers went to work on Ivermectin, only to discover in various experiments that it inhibited the replication of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The finding led to more research in human populations. Altogether, at least 27 studies have been conducted in numerous countries, including Argentina, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Iran, Pakistan, Spain, and the USA.

Unfortunately, however, the drug has suffered ignoble delay in recognition, especially in the United States, despite its long-standing approval by the Food and Drug Administration (the equivalent of our NAFDAC). There are two major reasons for this delay. One has to do with the conflict between the political and scientific communities in the United States as a result of the obstinacy of the outgoing American President, Donald Trump, and his demonstrated disregard for science and scientists. This is evident, for example, in his handling of COVID-19 and climate change.

I wonder how long it will take the EU to remove the suspension
of vaccinations with AZ??
Their record on ratification is absymnal !!!

Donkeyman!

We can try that stuff next year Cinders !
Stick with what we’ve got for now

 Donkeyman!
Another reason for the delayed response to Ivermectin is the early huge investment in COVID-19 vaccine by major Western and Asian countries, especially the United States, the UK, and China. Clearly, these investors would like to recoup their capital by selling the vaccines to other countries. As a result, they have remained tone-deaf to pharmaceutical remedies for COVID-19 or at least relegated them to the background.

A comment that profit comes before a potentially cheaper quicker way to save lives.

A comment?
Are they like opinions?

While the story might have some substance to it, we should remember that numerous other drugs too are being investigated and even in some cases used.
There might be an equal argument that the manufacturers are perhaps encouraging any complaints in the hope that profits rise if their particular drug is chosen.

As to other treatments, here in the UK for example tocilizumab (an arthritis treatment) was approved in January which reduces fatalities and reduces time spent in hospital by up to ten days - and that certainly isn’t an inexpensive treatment at about £500 per dose.

Then there are a few nasal sprays due soon too, like this one:
https://bgr.com/2021/03/17/coronavirus-treatment-sanotize-nons-nasal-spray/

So personally I don’t see that the cost argument holds much water.
It’s possible yes, but in light of other treatments besides vaccinations it’s unlikely IMHO.

“benefits outweigh risks”

I’ve heard this a lot in the last couple of days. Is it just me? This is not reassuring.

benefits outweigh risks by 10 times, benefits outweigh risks by 100 times, is the kind of thing I want to hear.

If I was a young man and heard “benefits outweigh risks”, I’d say bllx to that.

Well, that definitely took place when Aids was all the rage Cinderella

African and Indian sufferers couldn’t afford the drugs made by the
Americans, so they got together and copied the American drugs
but at half the cost !!
I see now we are getting astra zeneka from India ???
Seems we are using the aids facilities to manufacture AZ, maybe
because they can handle the volumes better ??
Nobody knows how many died of AIDS in South Africa because the
yanks. refused to lower the price? But informal graveyards sprang
up all over the country !!

 Donkeyman!

Yeah…I’d rather not have risks, to be fair. But…the speed in which these vaccines have been brought about is phenomenal. compared to the usual amount of time it takes, so I’m willing to give them a bit of leeway. Still not taking the AZ if its offered though. I know what to expect with Pfizer. Having said that, In Scotland there will be a drop in supply (as with the rest of the UK) so who knows when I’ll be offered it.

I think the term “greatly out weigh the risks” is what was used
dOOd ??

 Donkeyman!

No it wouldn’t Donkeyman, the MSM can, and have, prevented any criticising of the vaccine roll out, just a hint of descent is dismissed as being Conspiracy theory. I do agree that a lot of the claims are fiction, but there are some well respected voices out there who are not being heard. If the MSM want to keep their place in the grand scheme of things they must adhere to the party line…

In the end, only time will tell, so for now, I will bide my time…

 Who put the money in?

Due to the urgent need for the vaccine, governments and donors, have poured billions of pounds into projects to create and test them. Philanthropic organisations such as the Gates Foundation backed the quest as well as individuals including Alibaba founder Jack Ma and country music star Dolly Parton.

In total, governments have provided £6.5bn, according to science data analytics company Airfinity. Not-for-profit organisations have provided nearly £1.5bn.

Sorry OGF, I meant to say that the recipient of the vaccine would
have definitely reported it !!
Not the media

Donkeyman!

It will be kept quiet for now Donkeyman, nothing must get in the way of the vaccinations. Perhaps a documentary in ten years time will reveal what really went on in project fear and panic that was covid…

No blood clots were found thus countering the claims of the EU that the AZ caused blood clots.

Does that chart mean that the largest expenditure ( AZ), which is
supposedly doing it on a cost only basis can be excluded from
all the others Cinderella???
As they are not making a profit does that mean all their shareholders
are " philanthropists"

Donkeyman!

With all due respect Judd, a heart attack is caused by a blood clot cutting off the supply of blood to the heart muscle…I ought to know because I’ve had two heart attacks myself…

And anyway, they are not going to report that the vaccine was responsible for the heart attack are they, when they are trying to convince everyone it’s safe to have the jab…:009:

If the vaccine was causing blood clots would there not be more than 40 or so cases after millions of jags?

Well according to some of the more reliable journals and news agencies: the WHO, the EMA, the BMA, the RCGP are in agreement: “benefits outweigh risks”, nothing more, although the term “firmly convinced” has been heard.

Perhaps there have been more cases, and either not linked to the vaccine or information withheld Scot, do you honestly think they would report it when they are trying to get everyone vaccinated? Of course they wouldn’t. Most reports are coming from other countries…In the UK Heart attacks are responsible for the greatest loss of life in the male population, they take even more lives than covid does.

I reckon I’m in pretty good shape, and I won’t be catching covid, but even if I did, I’ve got a very good chance of surviving it. I doubt that I would survive another heart attack…It’s a no brainer for me Scot…
