My cats were last night. For some weird reason known only to cats - they decided that all the howling, raining, banging and clattering as stuff was blown down the road were entirely my fault - and they were seriously put out because I did not put a stop to it!
They flatly refused to go to bed - but stayed up all night prowling about, poking in corners, demanding food (which they were not given ), knocking things over, flushing the loo (Nemo) coughing up furballs (Willow) and playing trampoline on my stomach.
Where are they now? Snoring - loudly - by the radiator! Butter wouldn’t melt, would it?
Holly is mostly unfazed but she was barking out the garden at something that had fallen over, blocking the path, and her way into the garden. I had to move it for her.
We only ever had one cat but he used to go nuts when it was really windy. he would be out in the garden and just run up trees, jump to the next one like a monkey, down the garden fence, round in circles, in and out the cat flap. it was hilarious.. My small daughter’s school assembly one time was about pets and most of the kids were saying things like “we have 2 dogs and a cat” ….my daughter stood up and said “when it’s windy our cat goes mental.” The audience laughed a lot!
Not directly for our dog but if fences are down I suppose the dog could escape. Also we have a friend who is a dog trainer and if the dogs experience a strong storm the dogs can lose their bearings from the scents they would normally smell.
They’re not bothered by the noises and the winds but if the wheely bins are moving about tomorrow because it’s collection day barley won’t like it.
@Besoeker Sorry I meant after the bin men have gone because they should be early, barley just doesn’t like the bins full stop and if they get moved about by the wind he won’t like it.
Good for Max not being bothered by them.
Yes, Logan, its our bin day tomorrow and I dont fancy the bin men’s chances of finding half of them. Bet they’ll be all over the roads once they’ve been emptied.
Maybe the men wont even be working if its bad though?
One of dogs, Gertie, is nervous in these winds. It spooks her outside when the huge neighbouring trees are creaking and waving about.
I suppose it distorts their hearing, like it does horses.
Oh yes. Sari has always been a nervous wreck when there’s a storm. She takes shelter in the most quiet corner under my desk and can’t sleep at night. She doesn’t understand what’s going on and needs a lot of reassurance and attention. Same as New Year’s Eve but then she barks more.
Thanks Pauline I will but it hasn’t been as bad as they said that it would be.
Barley and Berry are fast asleep, they had the walks at 10am.
The bin men still came round at 7 am as usual.
