You really should read the post first before you comment Assman.
I’ve been in the cutting end of addiction as a career but it’s much bigger than that from the nipple to the bottle and back - hormones generated from the brain causing our addictions - they are often uncontrollable from sugar to sex - depends how you wanna use the word harshly or softly?
depends on how you wanna define and consider the word addicted - you are both right in fact from breathing ; drugs and fast rapid white water rafting it’s all in there.
Nowt wrong with a harmless addiction, that’s self harmless or harmless to society, its hard to set the line where great need stops and addiction starts.
I’m addicted to here thats for sure…I sometimes take a break but always come back…curious whats going on
I suppose too I’m addicted to house renovations but its an addiction I can never satisfy because once I’ve done what I feel needs doing I lose interest and need to move on…I’m getting too old for this now though…I’ve decided a caravan next.
Im addicted to backgammon too but not so much as I used to be…and I never play for money.
I am addicted to collecting things, buying & then selling them & going places where I can buy things, car boots, flea markets etc. I am also addicted to Angry Birds. I have to do them all as well as I can. I love the game, it probably brings out & helps me with the violence in me…
then you are a life time addict - no cure~!
I would say coffee. Several cups a day.
no addiction detected there?
Hello Megalodon Welcome to the nuthouse. Matron will be round in a while with the medication trolley.
Okay. Thx for the notice.
I’m addicted to gardening, always got to be out there or doing something inside. Never done drugs and never smoked or alcohol.
and is there a difference between an obsession and an addiction - the almighty gathering of psychiatrists define what a true addiction is:
in simple terms if you have a life activity that is daily constant and you cannot stop it at will even housework for that matter then you have an addiction it doesn’t have to be to drugs but it can interfer with the quality of life.
in addition or addiction we can also say that we must be addicted to breathing and sleeping too?
I’m addicted to coffee, wine, internet forums & online scrabble.
It used to be cigarettes as well but I managed to give them up10 years ago.
anyone imo who can give up nicotine is capable of giving up anything! well done.how much wine and coffee do you drink per day?
how’s ya back these days?
The wine - One glass with dinner every night. I wouldn’t enjoy my dinner without it.
Coffee - I long for it as soon as I wake up in the morning. A big mug on waking and about 6 through the day … The morning one is the best.
Aw thanks for asking.
I’m taking medication for trapped nerve. The sciatica caused by a disc pressing on a nerve is like electric shocks going down my leg. However it’s not so painful as it was six months ago. The meds help. I’m at the stage now where I think I can rejoin my gym classes & walking group.
That’s great to hear Carol and hope that it continues.
