Are we part of a global chess game?

So you keep saying.

I worked at a leading American tyre manufacturer in the UK for nearly a decade. In that time, the factory made an operating profit every year but never made a budgeted profit at all and it was the budgeted profit that was used for corporation and other tax purposes.

For a start, our factory carried the costs of the Glasgow and Craigavon sites (both operating at a loss), then every tyre bearing the company’s name (once on each side don’t forget) had a logo charge applied by our HQ in Akron. Every letter, invoice, etc issued that had the company name and logo on it had a charge applied to it by HQ, etc, etc.

All of these little dodges are perfectly legal (even Amazon applies them today) and result in reduced profitability and, therefore, taxability.

This is a study guide. It’s a hypothetical case about what would happen IF (big IF) Amazon lost its tax advantage loopholes. Unless and until that happens, Amazon is still taking its tax advantages legally.

All sales made to UK customers go through a Luxembourg-based company, Amazon EU Sarl. This bypasses HMRC and takes advantage of the nation’s generous tax breaks.

OGF hasn’t it always been this way , we the minions have kept the wealthy richer and the rich have kept the money for their own . The kings and queens marry their cousins again keeping it in the family. I think it will always be this way . In fact I can’t see a way out .

We the minions or pawns have to do as we are told or suffer the consequences don’t you think?

All of us Octogen…If you are not part of the decision making machine, you are a pawn…

No. Amazon applies UK VAT and other applicable taxes as appropriate.

Where are you getting this info from, Todger? From what I have just seen, it seems that some of us have linked stories in which Amazon avoid paying tax…

In this case it’s included in the Amazon terms of business details. People bellyaching about Amazon not paying UK taxes simply don’t know what they’re talking about.

Not really Susan. It’s going global now. We used to be controlled by first the monarchy, and then later by the government. But with people like Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Elon Musk… They control how we shop, what medicines we use, and we thank them for their trouble. Together they can over rule any government or shut a country down and plunge them into poverty. They can restrict your energy sources and determine what you will drive with some cock and bull explanations blaming everything from Global Warming, covid, or Putin.
GM crops would have been strongly objected to normally (have been strongly objected to) but connect it to taking down Putin (for the war effort) we thank the scientists and our government and welcome it with open arms. Elon Musk sends rockets into space despite the pollution and poverty in the world, something only NASA and governments could do in the past. Bill Gates embarks on a global vaccination quest after covid has made vaccinations a common and necessary thing to do. We are working towards a one government world. We have just handed over complete control of our country by WHO should another pandemic spread around the planet…What do you think will happen now?

What is far worse than Amazon’s tax status, is the fact that one day, everything you buy will come through Amazon.

I am not well versed in economics, I admit. And there is this:

which makes me want to agree with you somewhat…but this figure is a drop in the ocean compared to their sales.

But their sales are global. Amazon really are squeaky clean where tax is concerned.

And the problem with that is?

The decision making machines were elected by us " pawns" . The Queen being the most powerful seconded by the Rook or is that crook in our case.

I hear what your saying OGF and I know it’s true but who can stop it? I know a lot of people slate him but David Icke has been saying this for years and warning us , but again I ask what can we do , we are just pawns . We have to do as we are told if not suffer the consequences.

I am so glad I’m old but it’s the youngsters I’m concerned for

Bilderberg, World Economic Forum, the World Bank, IMF, Big Pharma, Prince Charles.

@The_Artful_Todger , You chose a bad example when you chose VAT
as the example Todgy !
VAT is paid by the customer to the vendor for them to pass on to the
tax man, So Amazon is in fact the tax collector and is legally bound to pass
it on !!
As this money does not come out of Amazons Profits at all ?
And as such is no cause for celebrating the fact that Amazon did actually
pass this money on ?
Donkeyman! :thinking::thinking:

Hi

Are we part of a Global Chess Game?

Nope, we are not important enough.

Times have changed, we have no real impact now.
