Anyone remember these?

Romertopf Clay Pots. They were all the rage in the 1960/70s and cooked roasts beautifully. I had forgotten about mine - found it in the garage store cupboard yesterday when looking for something else. Going to use it today to roast a joint of beef.

That is beautiful, you are so lucky, I’m really jealous! :persevere:

I do remember them but I never had one. Let me know how it cooks up👍

I do remember those. I wanted one to bake some bread in. It’s supposed to steam the bread so it has a crispier crust. I didn’t get one at the time. I got a Le Creuset dutch oven as a substitute. I didn’t use that much, but I made a couple things in it at the time, mostly soups and stews though, not bread as I planned.

I hope the roast turns out well.

@maree & @butterscotch - The beef was so tender you could have cut it with a blunt fork - as succulent and delicious as I remember it from years ago. Wondering now why the pot was ever put out in the garage store cupboard!

Apparently they are still available - on Amazon - where else??!! :smiley_cat: :smiley_cat:
