Am I the only one who didn’t enjoy Lady Chatterley’s lover? I found Mellors and some of the things he was into really creepy. It was a very depressing read.
@AnnieS I’ve never read it … I assumed, as with most books, it was actually quite tame.
How was he creepy?
I can’t remember the detail as I read it so long ago, but I do remember the uneasy impression he made. I didn’t find it the least bit erotic.
That’s no good is it … . you have to find the main male character fanciable.
Jethro. A few shade Whiter than Gray.
Thought he outta have a Shifty.

I can’t say that I particularly enjoyed reading it. As for Mellors, I’d agree. I remember him as being offish, more distant than was necessary and he was certainly not communicative. You didn’t really know what he was getting at, how far he’d go, and at the same time he was obviously aware of his effect on women and enjoyed it.
Sometimes a geezer just has to “Smolder”

when it comes to mellors, all I see is mold rather than smold
AnnieS, its just as sad when geezers lose their glowing youth as for Ladies, couples need to dim at the same rate, simple stuff ![]()
Older men are well seasoned by life experience so repel mold better.
Do Older Ladies rest on their laurels.
whilst listening to “sitting on the dock of the Bay”?
Must put that on the playlist ![]()
I think men age better and often get sexier looking than women do.
Spose blokes get less rising damp ![]()
Don’t know about rising damp but their scaffolding and chasis doesn’t bend and sag.
It’s risky to generalise since we all know men whose scaffolding and chassis does sag or gets heavier. Isn’t that even the majority but women tend to have Clooney- and Connery-types of men in mind?
Life experience does count, though, and may give mature men an advantage. Kathleen Turner once put it like this: " I can appreciate a nicely formed bod as much as anyone. But men, until about the age of 29, lack conversation." She may have meant the same.
I can do conversation, I just don’t want to talk about cooking, soaps or their grandchildren.
Spot On.
