Anyone else sing Little Bunny Foo Foo at camp?

When I was a kid, we sang this song at camp,

Little Bunny Foo Foo,
Hopping through the forest,
Scooping up the field mice,
And bopping them on the head.

(Spoken)
Down came the Good Fairy, and she said,

“Little Bunny Foo Foo,
I don’t want to see you,
Scooping up the field mice
And bopping them on the head.”

(Spoken)
I’ll give you three chances,
And if you don’t behave,
I’m gonna turn you into a goon!

The next day…

Then it repeats for the remaining days. Then. . .

I gave you three chances,
And you didn’t behave,
And now I’m gonna turn you into a goon. POOF!

And the moral of the story is

Moral

Hare today, goon tomorrow.

Anyone else sing this at camp? I find myself humming the tune once in a while.

Definitely not!

No, never heard that one

What’s a goon?

The tune is very similar to Incy Wincy Spider :spider:
Different words .
Yes I wondered what is a goon

Never heard of it.
I believe a goon is someone who acts stupid Ripple.

Yes remember this song, but we used to sing the fairy’s words as Little Rabbit Foo Foo I don’t like your attitude
and goon was goonie.

A goon is a cardboard cask of wine in Australia, cheap as chips so favoured by teenagers.

Some call the plastic bag of wine inside a Goon Bag

:joy:Brilliant Bruce.

It’s a very confusing song then

This psycho rabbit gets turned into a carton of wine for persistent mouse bashing? :woman_shrugging:

And the moral is “hare today, goon tomorrow”, so was the bunny a hare not a rabbit? :woman_shrugging:

All camp songs were weird,

Remember Green and Yellow?

And My Father’s a Lavatory Cleaner?

Akela didn’t approve of that one but we always used to give it a blast on the coach on the way home

Oh my …so this monstrous mouse molester can morph into a bag of cheap alcohol .

Whatever next :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

There were goons in Popeye.
(Spike Milligan watched it too)

No, don’t know it.

What’s a poof? Is it what’s now known as a lbgbtqi?

In the OP, click on the orange word goon. It gives the pronunciation, meaning and etymology.

I just looked it up. It’s only offensive in the UK and only if used in that way.

Elsewhere and when not used in a derogatory usage in the UK, it means,

Ok, thanks but I still don’t get it  Why would a fairy go around changing a rabbit into any of those things ?:rofl::+1:

Mostly because of the wordplay with the word gone.

I remember doing that as a kid too with other people at camp. How dare a camp song not make perfect sense with wordplay that isn’t exact?!

Now I look back fondly at those days. It’s a camp song, not a literary treatise.

At risk of asking a silly question what sort of camp are we talking about?

I can relate to scouting but Bunny Foo Foo never cropped up, not very Bear Grylls but each to their own :+1:

So what did you do at night sitting around a campfire? Or did you not have campfires?

Traditionally, we would tell ghost stories, roast marshmallows and s’mores, and sing songs. This was a camp song.

I love campfires butterscotch, unfortunately when I was a kid they were a rare treat growing up right in the centre of London.
The last campfire I attended was when I was volunteering as a leader in scouting some years back.
Good fun it was too :+1:
