Another Shingleback Lizard I encountered this morning

Other names are Bobtail Lizard, Sleepy Lizard.

Wide Head

Tiny little toes.

Blue Tongue and Trachea

Duh. :slightly_smiling_face: after looking at the photos and your title I was about to reply mentioning that in Sth Oz they were usually referred to as a “Sleepy Lizard”
Luckily? as I skidded back to the top of your article I then noticed the other names - however I had never heard of them as a Bobtail althought it is quite descriptive, :slightly_smiling_face:

I do recall many years ago, back when I still had a full head of hair, that I was WARNED never to get bitten by one of these. :worried: The bite itself was NOT the problem - it was the bacteria that these guys ( & gals? ) carry on their teeth & in their mouths can be particularly nasty I was STRONGLY warned & difficult to treat ( especially back then? ) :worried:

I never put it to the test. ( and I can run faster than they can anyway - hmm maybe I should say that I COULD run faster than them back in those days ) :laughing: :laughing:
