Another lens from Japan

[TOPMINT] Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100-400mm F4-6.3 Micro-Four-Thirds Lens for £575 including discount voucher . New here in UK £1400. The £75 discount should cover import tax/vat etc
I have been looking for a long time getting this lens and most on close inspection have internal dust problems. This one as far as I can tell is dust free or possibly almost. Many also don’t include the tripod foot attachment or a lens cover missing.

Pardon our interruption…

If it is as good as advetised then I shall sell my 100-300mm lens reducing the cost even more.

Dare I ask … how many cameras have you got Realspeed?
I can see this more than a hobby, it’s a passion.

good question Morticia but lets start from the beginning. This takes us back to the 1950/60s era with the Brownie 127 I bought new for £1 and one shilling (old money). Film developement costs were expensive so didn’t take many photos. Even with my 21 birthday present with the Voightlander Vito CL camera. Still have and like New even now.

Then along came digital and my interest was renewed with Kodak and their 2x mega pixel camera. Ok but limiting being point and shoot. Next was the Nikon D70s which really started me off, from that to the D200- D300-D800-D810 until they got a bit too heavy due to my age and “The boss, er indoors who must be obeyed” told me to get rid off.
By this time I had retired and taken up photography as a hobby. Something one can do by ones self
Also got interested in video work so now have a camcorder (4th one) others worn out or unsuitable for my needs.
One camera I keep in the car A Nikon L26 incase I need a camera. you never know when and also dashcams in both cars.
then one Panasonic compact and two MFT panasonic cameras. Saves lens swap in a hurry
I did win a company (Mugler Vegas) international competition, not that I go in for that type of thing and the only one I have entered.

I do have a youtube channel mainly for myself as reminders ( Bruce gets really excited over one of the videos called “Rhino Run” I made :102:).

SO yes more of a passion than a hobby , rarely go out and no camera with me.

this is what I have just bought with £75 voucher discount

Just looked again at that site and the other has been sold as well

As hobbies go it has to be a pretty rewarding one.
And depending on how much editing and tinkering you do it must keep your engrossed for ages.
I’ve seen one or two you’ve posted which I’ve liked but can’t recall ’ Rhino Run’.

If that’s the Mark 2 then not a bad price.

the MK i is numbered as H-RS100400 Ver.1.5 Oct. 17, 2023

the Mk2 is numbered as H-RSA100400 Ver.1.1 May 14, 2025
so the one I bought is he Mk1 version
The Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100-400mm lens (H-RS100400) with serial number SP8GF101623 was likely manufactured in 2018.

so it may need the V1.5 firmware update. it is surprising what one can find out if knowing where to look
