Just spoken to my pal (on his mobile) who ran boarding kennels near mine in West Midlands. He gave up due to Canock council sending inspectors around to check using just tick sheets with absolutely no knowledge. He had been running his boarding kennels successfully for about 30 years and with this lot of pen pushers demands he said to them get stuffed. Now the council are panicking as they no longer get any business rates from him nor the licence fees. On top of that his staff will will be redundant after due notice and go on the dole costing the council even more. So now they say they are going back to reconsider but too late. Apparently he gave them a right blasting and i don’t blame him
To be honest I would have done the same. The local council it seems don’t want small businesses and do their best to get them shut down. This is the third one they have “shit on” so to speak. these so called inspectors he found out their last job was monotoring road noise
Stupid things like insisting on ventalation but no draughts. His kennels like mine were heated but they had put down on their tick sheets no heating. that is just two example let alone incorrectly issuing a licence last year with errors on it…
So now he has asked for his phone to be disconnected which it now is and he has ceased trading.
he is also now unemployed so go on the dole as well
Makes me glad we sold when we did or we could well sunk like him after years of hard work and long hours to build up a reputable business with huge number of clients
