Anne Widdecombe says don't make cheese sandwiches if you can't afford the ingredients

My conspiracy theory fan friend sent me something similar on eventbrite. I had to stop myself asking whether there was anything about alien invasions on the agenda.

Iā€™ve always though politicians were puppets of the multinationals.I donā€™t think their primary aim is to control us though just make money.

People donā€™t want to hear the truth OGF!!

I live near a SA hall where they have their own foodbank once a week. I see young women going in there and coming out with several bags of donated groceries, put their bags in their cars and then cross over to the shop to buy their fags and takeout coffees! I have also seen them in the nail bar paying about Ā£40 for gel nails!!

They have no shame and no pride in my opinion.

When we were kids my Dad, like many others, was on a very low wage in a rural area. My Mum found out we were entitled to free school meals but my Dad refused to get his employer to sign the form because he was too proud. He did not want anybody to think he could not provide for his kids.

There is quite a resemblance, isnā€™t there ā€¦

How many ingredients make up a Cheese Sarny  hardly master chef :icon_wink:

I like Anne Widdecome as she always says what she thinks.

I am sure most of us have had to cut back at times in our lives, I know I have. Cheese is really expensive now so maybe they should try a substitute like tuna fish, egg, marmite, cucumber, peanut butter etc.

We used to have fish and chips every few weeks when there were just the two of us but as kids came along and prices went up considerably they became a very rare treat for several years.

I didnā€™t say that. What I meant was we end up with governments that are just an extension of student politics with no experience of running a business or working in the private sector.

The application form should focus more on experience and background rather than if you have a degree in lesbian dance. We need common sense in politics, pragmatic solutions and robust policies backed up by proper real world experience, mainly in the private sector where its a damned site harder to get a pay rise and go up the career ladder than workers in the public sector who are given it as a right.

The Great Reset goes back decades Annie its nothing new. Thereā€™s a book on it by Klaus Schwab - itā€™s no conspiracy theory at all. It is socialism though as it shares the same principles. You would love it, 15 minute cities, net zero ā€¦ all those wonderful ideas to make people miserable and poor while your masters get all the wealth.

I thought of this thread when I was shopping this morning. A box of suet now costs Ā£3 which I use for making dumplings for my menfolk! That is a ridiculous price so I chose not to buy it. The other night I ran out of suet so made my dumplings with just flour, little salt and water and nobody noticed the difference. I can afford it now but at times in my life I couldnā€™t plus I
Donā€™t agree with profiteering.

You can use vegetable oil in place of the suet if youā€™ve got some

Iā€™ve always used beef dripping to good effect and itā€™s tastier too :+1:

Where do you get beef dripping from if you donā€™t have a roast ?

most of the recent lot have degrees in politics / economics. Usually Oxford. They also have experience in business / city or law etc. Boris was an outlier being a journo with a classics degree. Although of course Eton / oxford usual mix. Truss was an ex accountant worked in industry ā€¦but again she studied politics, economics philosophy at Oxford. Sunak has the same degree from the same uni, but has a first class, Lizā€™s result seems to be a secret. Suella Braverman read law at Cambridge. Then worked as a barrister.

Are John Major / Jeremy Corbyn preferable?

I understand inflation has been reduced, but food prices have risen. You donā€™t suppose they have dropped fuel prices (petrol and diesel) to bring down inflation superficially to make the government look good?

I dunno Rishi is from the clean cut prime ministerial stable, is it time for a modern day Michael Foot?
