Angela Rayner’s “Tory scum” comment/outburst

What are your thoughts on Angela Rayner’s latest outburst, calling all Tories scum? She later modified her rant to aim it solely at Boris Johnson. (No doubt coerced). She also claimed that Northerners calling someone scum, is a Northern bit of banter.

Well, I’m a Northerner, and I’ve NEVER heard that word used in humour or banter in all of my sixty plus years.

I know one thing, she won’t be encouraging people to vote Labour anytime soon.

Not so sure, it depends how many agree with her

Politics has got very twee and PC, hasn’t it?

“Scum” is hardly the worst word you can call someone I’ve been called worse on forums

If she’d said it in Parliament you can understand her getting a scolding, but at a left wing activist meeting?

Free speech an’ all that. She thinks they’re scum and she said so!

Maybe it was before your time

:047:

If it was before my time, it’s certainly before hers.

Don’t mind me, I’m just joking around

Neither have I.
Scum as in scum as in dregs of society, much like her TBH. She’s not a good advert for up here - nor anywhere else for that matter.

Just a cheap jibe. Says more about her than Boris.

my thought too , Totally out of order .
I think shes marked her card ,.

The story has always been the same for Rank Breakers. :grinning: :biking_man:

I could not type my thoughts in here as if I did my membership would be deleted sharpish.

Emily Thornberry, is blaming alcohol for Angel Rayner’s outburst.

Oh Dear, Labour aren’t having a very good time at the moment, it’s all going a bit wrong for them!

I have never heard of her, let’s face it, Boris Johnson is the leader of the Tory party, an olld Etonian homophobic, misogynistic galah and scum floats to the top so perhaps she could be right

QED.

I despair at the quality of some of our politicians…how did she get to that level? Talk about common can you imagine her representing us internationally…don’t laugh it could happen.

Since Angela has persisted since the original outburst and obviously has not got any intention of moderating her tone, all I can really say is that Emily is making it patently obvious just how unlikely it is that the Labour party will win the next General Election.
Even party supporters will not like such bigoted opinionising and you would think that logic would suggest what happens to political parties spouting such hate-filled nonsense after the LibDem’s equally crass “B@llOcks To Brexit” campaigning led to their election collapse.
Sadly it seems not.

It’s not good for British politics either because it is in effect handing the Tories more power as a result of the weakness of the opposition.

Love it!! :+1::grin:

I can’t stand Angela Rayner, her voice grates on me.

She is not a good representative of the Labour I once knew, the proud working class who would not lower themselves to call people name.

Raynor is insulting voters. She doesn’t get it, labour voters in the north (the red wall) voted in droves to lend their votes to Boris Johnson to get Brexit done and in return, she calls them “scum”.

Typical of the sneering snobby labour party, on one hand they are saying they are the party for working people, then in the next insulting them by calling them scum and in the meantime spending hundreds of £££ on Apple AirPods and designer dresses.

Starmer has spend all his time trying to reunite Labour and his deputy then does this and divides it again, dog whistling to the likes of McDonell and Abbott.

Wednesday will be interesting at PMQs, it’s now clear that Labour hate the working class.

It’s all a bit immature, really and a lot of game playing

She sounds like a caricature of a left-wing activist Wolfe Smith type and Johnson sounds like a caricature of an Etonian toff

Some who hate Labour pretend to be much more offended than they really are by “scum”, some who hate Conservative pretend to be more offended than they are by Johnson’s gaffes

And of course some Conservative supporters will build it all up because it suits their agenda to divert attention from what’s been said at the Labour conference

The whole game just repeats and repeats, with no authenticity, it’s no wonder people are sick of politics

Power to the people!! That just about sums her up, until of course, someone asks her how everything talked about would or could be implemented.

On a scale of 1 to 10 regarding political expertise Raynor comes in just below the 1. Starmer needs to grow a backbone and dump her and some of the other blatantly left wing anti working class mouthpieces if labour are going to stand any chance of avoiding self destruction. As an opposition they are useless.
