Let’s each share which beautiful state we’re from and introduce some local specialties
Most of us here don’t come from the USA
Welcome Elena .
We have members from mainly the UK but also world wide including the USA . So you may not get too many replies to your heading.
I am in the UK but been to the USA a couple of times including Alcatraz and the Kennedy space centre. Both fascinating places to visit. Having travelled fairly extensively to different countries each have their own places worth visiting. Going to China and walking along the great wall several thouand feet up is something one doesn’t forget. Same in Brazil with the iguazu falls on the border of Argentina. Experiencing the bullet train in Japan is something else, wow. Norway and the fjords should also be one ones bucket list, been there twice. Egypt and the pyramids are unbelievable when you are there to see them. Tunisia- Spain- Portugal- Iceland to name but a few my wife and I have been to each have something to offer. The caribbean again is something completely different, as is visiting countries around the Mediterranean sea.Standing on Mt Etna just after a minor volcanic eruption (one week earlier) bring home how powerful these eruptions are
Iceland
If you asked about different parts of the world not just the USA states you might get more replies
and here we have “Counties” like Lancashire, oh ya!!
So does the US of A Max, Kenny sang about the Coward of the County!!
I don’t think we need to limit ourselves to the US - do we?
I’m originally from the NE Scotland (state equivalent = Grampian). Speciality de la region is the marvelous smoked fish soup called Cullen Skink.
Personally, I live a short drive from California & used to live within sight of Boston & just behind Boston is the village of New York.
From what I’ve observed, most people here are from Europe, right?
My own observation over the last few years is that this began as very much a UK forum. If you look back at old threads you will see that the forum is dominated by British issues. (Ah, the fun days of long, long threads about Brexit or the Truss government success or jolly old Johnson.) Mixed in were posts from people in mainland Europe - although some like me are British living in another country.
Then about 3 years ago we started seeing more and more US people join, and most welcome. With last year’s elections in the US the additional American members added their own insights into threads that were very much about US issues - the president, the various executive orders, etc. So some threads look very American but I think most are still very British in topic and nature.
Make of it what you want.
PS there is a town called Cadillac not far from where I live.
‘‘Cullen Skink is a rich and creamy Scottish soup made primarily from smoked haddock, potatoes, and onions, originating from the town of Cullen in Moray, Scotland.’’
I like to fake accents so one day from UK , another Scotland and another Australia .
Interestingly enough though a Yank the next door neighbor Canadian accent I find the most difficult .
Both my daughters live in California , they love it .
I’m in Florida , Miami .
We stayed in Cullen in the 1940’s. I went to school there. A lovely little town. I often make Cullen Skink.
