Almost 70, but still at it!

I’m surprised that after almost 20 years of doing the same thing, that I love riding as much or more than ever! Here’s a quick 53-second video from 9.30.25. Hope you enjoy!

Oh, looks painful and bumpy …do you get saddle sores?

Do you think you’ll ever call it a day and hang up your saddle?

You are a star Uni-Geezer I don’t know many people who could do that ride on two wheels.
You are an inspiration…

I’d hoped to be running marathons into my 80’s but unfortunately my heart had other ideas, but like you, I will not give in, and walk fast instead of running…
It’s blokes like you that keep me going Terry…Keep em coming it’s always a pleasure to hear from you…

Thanks Bob, and I am inspired by you as well! And walking - especially fast walking - is great exercise, and much less stress on your feet and knees compared to running. Keep going! Cheers!

I love steep hill climbing and do it often. The size unicycle that I choose of course depends on the type of riding that I’ll be doing. For most off-road trail riding I usually choose either the 24-in or a 26 in and sometimes a 29 inch if it’s more of a smooth Trail where I can go faster. For long distance rides I have a 36-in wheel unicycle.

Hi Morticia, I don’t really get saddle soreness when I’m riding off road since I’m up off the saddle quite a bit especially if I’m climbing steep hills. Saddle soreness does come into play though when I’m riding my 36-in unicycle on the beach bike path for long distances. But that can be alleviated by changing position or stopping periodically to stretch. I don’t see a time in the near future that I will stop riding, and hope to be active in the saddle for a long time to come. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah, I find that when I haven’t ridden for a long time the saddle can get a bit uncomfortable, but after a few rides you get used to it and it’s not a problem. I only ride on the roads with a racing bike, but like me, it is very old but we work well together. I wouldn’t swop it now even though Mrs Fox is always telling me to invest in a modern bike.
A road racing cyclist once told me not to wear underwear (yes I know :009:) because the stitching on the hems can rub your delicate bits. So I’ve never worn anything under my cycling shorts and never suffered any problems. Not from the saddle anyway…
