AI causing memory chip shortage and driving up costs for consumers

So there is now a memory chip shortage due to the huge demands AI is putting on world tech supplies. This will affect the rollout of broadband and increase the cost of smartphones and laptops - now we are completely reliant on the tech in so many parts of life and nobody seems to have planned for this!

Genie out of the bottle perhaps?
And this is merely the beginning. I wonder what other consequences there might be that have not been foreseen or planned for

Chip shortage: 1988, 1999, 2004, 2011, 2020, 2026. Lets increase the price of everything.

The fish used to get the blame for the price rises, now its the chips turn

salt isn’t cheap any more

Isn’t it strange that when a new product is released nobody realised the full consequences.
It reminds me of the quote in Newton’s third law…

“For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”

There’s an obsession with mass AI rollout OGF. It’s astonishing that nobody is being asked if that’s ok. While our energy bills are going up and we are being told to be careful with using electricity, this hugely energy resource-hungry tech monster is gobbling up resources and energy across the planet. AI energy consumption is predicted to double by 2030. The state and private sector are all on the same path. It’s a runaway train.

AI is nothing but another excuse for incompetence. If things go wrong they’ll blame the chip, can’t sack a piece of silicon.

Newton should have added…“But nobody saw it coming”

I think even Newton would be bamboozled by what’s going on in the world at the moment Foxy! :open_mouth:

Yes, would Newton understand the gravity of the situation as is?
