This is a story I posted 5 years ago on another site.
A stranger had entered her house in the early morning and proceeded to cook herself a meal
When she confronted the Breakfast Cook, the Cook simply left.
…and I thought her chicken coop had caught fire.
A neighbour (Derek) who lives just behind us likes a game of golf on a Sunday morning, so back in the eighties, he invited his friend to play a round of golf with him. His friend said he would come to Derek’s house early on Sunday morning and they would travel to the golf course in his friends car. The friend who had never been to Derek’s house asked for directions (no mobile phones or sat nav’s in those days)
Sunday morning came and at the appointed time Derek glanced out of his window to see his friends car parked down the street. Derek knew that his friend didn’t know anyone in the street so walked down to the unoccupied vehicle. Derek walked down the drive and entered the open door of the house where his friend was enjoying a slice of toast and a cup of tea.
His friend explained that since Derek wasn’t up yet he decided to help himself to a drink and a slice of toast, and added, I hope you don’t mind…
It wasn’t Derek’s house! Red faces all round, so after clearing away his pots they left the property.
It turns out that the house belonged to a police officer who had left for work earlier that morning, not locked the door, and left his wife asleep in bed. She never woke or realised that she had some random golfer calling for breakfast that morning until Derek visited later in the day to apologise…It was the talk of the street for years to come…
Great story. Thanks, much, for starting my day off with a !
