A Second Opinion on things

Hi

New freezer and washing machine recently, not cheap.

My cooker then went wrong, a free standing electric double fan with induction hob.

Got the local company in, £70 call out plus £23 for a part, but then told me it was so badly damaged |I needed to replace it.

They would get me a new one, £800 fitted.

Got a name from next door, rang, came in 3 hours, tested it, said they are telling you rubbish., got it working in less than 10 minutes.

How much?

Give me a tenner, I gave him £20, well worth it.

Hopefully your luck has changed at last

@swimfeeders , He probably worked for the first firm

One of my daughters had the same experience with a well know door/window/glazing company. Her font door had been giving her grief for a coupe off weeks, so she contacted the original supply & fit company. Very bad report = complete new door required. Friend across the road suggested a local chap she had used before. He came next day and after an hour of dismantling and reassembling + adjusting, all working as good as new. Cost? £20 cash-in-hand … RESULT!!

Just like my recent damp remedial works. Paid £100 as opposed to many 100s of £££s.

Always worth asking around. There are a lot of sharks out there. Glad you didn’t take the bait swimmy

I often get a second opinion from the wife

I often get a second opinion from the wife
[/quote] That is surely wrong. Her opinion should always be first and then yours will follow on as No2. . . :astonished::wink::grin:

When Mrs M voices an opinion, I have learned over the years to nod and agree, makes for a peaceful life

very wise
