For readers of factual events during wartime.
The first is called ’ Two eggs on my plate’
It is a book written by Oluf Reed Olsen. and is set during WW2 and in particular the German occupation of Norway.
It is one of the best true accounts of wartime resistance that I have read.
The book itself has been out of print for sometime but any Library in the UK can get a copy.
The second one relates to WW1 and is ‘Three Before Breakfast’ by Alan Coles.
A true account of how the German U-boat U9 under the command of Commander Otto Weddigen sank three British Cressy-class armoured cruisers in one desperate hour leading to the tragic loss of HMS Aboukir, Cressy and Hogue. It is believed to be one of the earliest
attacks by submarine and torpedo in wartime. In all 1459 souls perished that morning.
The book itself is no literary masterpiece but it gets to the facts.
I have a particular interest in this as a family member was killed onboard the Aboukir.
If you like this sort of reading then these are both well worth a look.
