It was 25 years ago that the “Best Olympics Ever” started in Sydney. The good thing about it was that it was held at reasonable times rather than in the middle if the night. 
Even I watched the lovely Cathy Freeman win the 200 metres.
The worse thing was that daylight savings started in September and led to the adoption of 6 months of Daylight Savings (absolute hell), however the trains ran on time and all was happy.
We survived the Y2K bug but nothing has happened since.
