2000 Homes Uninhabitable

2000 homes in northern NSW have been declared uninhabitable and will need to be demolished.

It must be awful for the owners, if you live in a flood zone you cannot get insurance against flooding.

So many towns are built on flood plains because it is a land of “droughts and flooding rains”, flood plains are flat and located conveniently close to rivers for transport.

This quite an interesting review

But it would be a mistake to think that it is over BOM has just issued a new warning

@Bruce , Bloody hell !!

Why don’t you build on stilts it you must live on a flood plain ??

Donkeyman! :-1::frowning::frowning::-1:

Sydney is having horrendous weather too.

Yes, the wise councilors, in the Reading area, have allowed houses to be built, on the Flood Plains, for years.

There have been many of them " flooded", and, I hear, un-insurable.

A flood plain was recently described as an area which can, or will, be flooded in extreme conditions.

I guess the council thinks we should build waterproof houses.

Mind you, there were a lot of Houses built up, effectively, on stilts, in Surrey!

Alas, dear Assman, these towns were founded by the British, we know they were thick, we watched five years of Brexit.

Mount Ousley was shut for hours yesterday (the main route between Sydney and Wollongong) because of the fear of landslips. a privately owned 450000litre dam had to be pumped out.

As for Sydney it is very wet
