No problem mate. Glad you enjoyed the Boston vid too. All the best mate
The Kinks made some wonderful perfect pop songs. Here are three of their finest.
Firstly, what is sometimes known as probably the first “heavy metal” song due to the loudness of the guitars “You Really Got Me”:
Next, a song which is so poignant in its lyrics. Later covered by Kirsty MacColl:
Finally a version of probably their finest song, this one by Ray Davies solo at Glastonbury in 2010 - “Waterloo Sunset”

Another one on my list, LD. This one and “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number”. Where do you stop at perfect songs with a band of this calibre?
I was debating which to post, Reelin’ in the years or Rikki don’t lose that number. Yes you are right, there are so many great songs to choose from.

Are we choosing perfect songs from favourite groups or because the perfect song means something to each of us ?

This song needs to stand alone. A project which comprised Brian Eno, Bono, The Edge and with guest vocals from the great Luciano Pavarotti.
Pavarotti’s soaring, incredible voice makes this song his own and watch the moment in particular when Bono simply has to stand back and admire his awesome voice. The subject matter makes this song even more heartwrenchingly brilliant and almost too much to bear in places.
This is “Miss Sarajevo”:

Either, solo. It’s only a loosely-based idea to find a title for the thread tbh.
Personally, I’m choosing those songs which I think are the most well-constructed songs by a particular artist - not necessarily my favourites.

Thought it was going differently than the title suggested so thanks for explaining

Re Lily Allen …I though she did a pretty good job covering
Up The Junction
Her father Keith was/is matey with the Squeeze boys, she probably heard the song when still in the womb.

I danced myself out of the womb
Is it strange to dance so soon?

Remember seeing The James Gang supporting The Who at Lewisham Odeon in the 70’s. Been a fan of Joe Walsh music ever since (even though I am no fan of the man himself).

I love this song
It was on the radio a couple of weeks back on my way to work, and I was having a really difficult time and I just balled my eyes out
Done me the world of good as I got all the tears out and was fit to do a day in work without bringing everyone else down
Weird reason for loving a song I know, but it will always get my tears flowing

Yep every time and I can’t even relate it to anyone specifically. I do remember it was banned from hospital radio stations in it’s day.

A lot of the chaps on here get hot under the collar for Blondie.
But Polly does it for me.

My Prog Rock street cred will now be blown away, but this is pop perfection.
