I don’t know, OGF, it’s in the Metro too, with a list of possible sacrificial lambs. The Metro is owned by the Daily Mail, isn’t it?
I thought those on the right of politics think that the Left has taken over the media, not the Government?

For anybody who didn’t watch ‘Sunday Morning’ this morning presented by Sophie Raworth well worth watching Kier Starmer wriggling. Interview starts at 46:13 and him trying to wriggle out of breaking the rules when he was pictured drinking a beer at a meeting starts at 52:32. A definite hypocrite I say:
Sophie Raworth is joined by Sir Keir Starmer MP and Oliver Dowden MP.
I’d say Sir Keir is right - taking a meal break while working is accepted practice (COVID rules or not).
BJ’s cronies throwing parties at the drop of a hat and organising regular Friday night booze-ups at No 10 and elsewhere is not (COVID rules pertaining).
Pressure continues to mount on the government over a number of events that allegedly took place in Whitehall and Downing Street while COVID-19 restrictions were in force.
What are the alleged events?
• 16 April 2021
According to initial reports in The Telegraph newspaper, two gatherings involved 30 Downing Street staff partying into the early hours at Number 10 at a time when indoor mixing was banned.
• 18 December 2020
Staff reportedly held a cheese and wine night in Downing Street, just days after stricter Tier 3 restrictions come into effect in London - meaning people were not allowed to mix indoors with anyone outside their household or support bubble.
• 17 December 2020
Staff in the private office of Cabinet Secretary Simon Case took part in a virtual quiz.

A picture has emerged of the prime minister is taking part in an online Downing Street quiz flanked by colleagues.
• 14 December 2020
The Times reported that a party was held at Conservative Campaign Headquarters (CCHQ) with Tory mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey and “at least two dozen party aides and volunteers”.
• 10 December 2020
Permanent Secretary at the Department for Education Susan Acland-Hood has confirmed to MPs that a party was held at the department which was also attended by then-education secretary Gavin Williamson.

• 20 May 2020
Number 10 staff were invited to a some “socially distanced drinks” to “make the most of the lovely weather” during the first national lockdown, according to a leaked email seen by ITV News.
• 15 May 2020
The prime minister is reported to have joined Number 10 staff for a gathering in Downing Street.
What other events are alleged to have taken place?
Meanwhile the Daily Mirror has reported that around 50 staff at Number 10 had “wine-time Fridays” scheduled into their electronic calendars between 4pm and 7pm every Friday during various periods of COVID restrictions.
It comes after the Sunday Mirror reported that political staff and officials frequently drank after work until the early hours of the morning, and ordered food to Ms Coffey’s office at the DWP.
he was pictured drinking a beer at a meeting
At least it was a good basic socialistic beer, not a capitalistic G&T!
If you watch the interview he wasn’t adhering to the rules of the time. You can’t criticise others for breaking the rules when you yourself have done so. It’s like when he and the rest of his shadow cabinet are seen at PMQs wearing masks, but as soon as they are off camera they’re not. All throughout their Labour Conference they were breaking the rules and that was clearly visible for us all to see. How do you ‘actually’ know there weren’t other parties, etc held by Labour, just because they haven’t been shown yet, doesn’t mean they didn’t happen. And as I’ve also posted previously the biggest hypocrites of them all are the media.

OTOH, because they haven’t been shown yet, means they didn’t happen …
The right-wing rags are screaming “rule-breaker” at a man having a break with colleagues at work.
They’re desperate because BJ’s record of rule-breaking and lying is appalling.
In your dreams. As I’ve also previously stated on 8th May 2020 majority of the country were out having street parties swilling alcohol, are you seriously telling me that not one Labour politician did the same.

Name one Labour politician who did the same.
Show me a picture of the majority of the country out having street parties swilling alcohol on 8th May 2020.

but they were not on one of three Podiums giving chapter and verse.
Well this is about one and as I’ve previously said, it was definitely going on down my street and at the time the papers and tv were full of them:
The Cambridge doctor was far from impressed by the celebrations
I watched every single press conference and the big thing that stood out to me was Boris saying, use your common sense. Where I am, the police were breaking up raves, but ignoring the old people who were sitting on the benches in the middle of town having a natter. Just because some police forces didn’t use their common sense isn’t Boris’ problem.
Well this is about one and as I’ve previously said, it was definitely going on down my street and at the time the papers and tv were full of them:
Addenbrooke's doctor blasts VE Day street party in foul-mouthed Twitter rant - Cambridgeshire Live
BBC response to criticism of TV report
A BBC spokesperson responded to complaints over the street party coverage and said that perspectives on camera can “sometimes be deceiving”.
They said that their journalist clarified that people were social distancing and that those close together were from the same family unit, the Evening Standard reports.
The spokesperson added: “It is not for BBC News to instruct people how they should behave and our presence at this event was only to report on what was already taking place.”
Street hits back after party backlash
Residents living in the Cosham Road have hit back after their VE Day celebrations came under fire from angry viewers.
They say the camera angle made it appear as though they were not following social-distancing rules enforced by the Government.
One anonymous resident told their local paper: “Nobody breached the two-metre distance” and they all tried their “hardest to stick by the regulations”.
Also adding the backlash “is not fair on the families who stuck by the lockdown [rules].”
Two sides to every story …
Don’t care what people were saying about that particular party. Up and down the country there were street parties and as I’ve said there was one down my street and in the afternoon it started off everybody keeping to their own gardens although with the gardens only being six feet wide by five foot and terraced houses it was impossible to social distance from your neighbours and then when the alcohol started flowing everybody was in each others gardens by the evening.
And as I’ve also stated that every Thursday night there was a clap for the carers and from what I saw on the TV there wasn’t much social distancing going on.
Actually now that you mention it Wendy, in our little cul-de-sac we all sat round chatting supping tea or alcohol if you preferred, listening to music and hugging. Covid was the last thing on our mind.
OldGrey you and millions of others.
Don’t come in to it, one group were the rule makers at the time, they broke them, end of.
Oh silly me, I thought they had to be voted through by parliament. Can you please show me the one that says that only Labour can break the rules?
Sir Keir Starmer today insisted there is 'absolutely no comparison' between footage of him drinking a beer with Labour staff last year and Covid rule-busting parties in Downing Street.
Asked in a question and answer session if he held himself to the same standards as Mr Johnson – and if he would resign if found to have acted in the same way – Mr Starmer said ‘absolutely’.
He added: 'When we collectively asked the nation to act in a particular way, it was very important that we acted in the same way as the rest of the nation.
…
Last night, Tory MP Andrew Bridgen, who has called for Mr Johnson to step down over Partygate, said that Sir Keir should refer himself for an internal investigation over the footage.
‘He should be volunteering himself and his colleagues up for an investigation in the interest of transparency. There’s only one thing that never surprises me about the Labour party, the rank hypocrisy,’ he said.
…
Last night, former Tory leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith slammed Sir Keir, saying: ‘There are no excuses, ultimately, for rule breaking. It is very rich of the Labour party and Keir Starmer to try to sweep this aside – it’s not okay. He needs to stand up, shoulder it and say sorry.’
…
At the time, England was under ‘step two’ regulations, which stated: ‘You must not socialise indoors except with your household or support bubble. You can meet outdoors, including in gardens, in groups of six people or two households.’
*Regarding work and business, the rules stated: ‘You should work from home if you can.’
Anyone can break rules, a few set them, politics aside.
You are pushing a political point, I am not.
