Good point Spitty, all the attendees could have refused to go on the grounds that ‘Rules is Rules’ We must take responsibility for our own health and wellbeing and not rely on Boris to tell us what to do.
You were implying it here…this is a forum, if we want to discuss that’s what this thread is for.
Also he went to the party, believing it was a works event…he should have told them to break it up , not join in…we were in “ full lockdown “!!..for heavens sake…he even said he said he should have broken it up, in hindsight he said…well I never.
That’s up to you…I don’t despise him…I strongly believe he should resign, because not only did he allow that party to continue, he joined in, when we were in full lockdown…some people weren’t able to be with their loved ones, whilst they were dying, yet this party he allowed to continue.he even admitted that he should not have, looking back in hindsight he replied.
I believe he has lost, credibility, respect and trust, imo.
I saw an article whereby a single man was fined for having three friends in his garden for his birthday and was fined for it. He now wants his money back (or it given to charity), based on BJ’s party antics during lockdown.
Not sure how successful he will be in getting his fine reversed, but so many people are furious with the government’s “do as I say, not as I do” attitude.
We have all been hypocrites and probably still are.
He is Prime Minister …he has a huge responsibility, we’re talking lockdown…he broke the rules, …there is no way he can crawl under a stone in this case…he is now facing the music and has been called out for it…as we should all be, when we have done a serious wrong…imo…this man and his government run the country for heavens sake.
This is not a matter of traitors, or the Official Secrets Act.
Many leaks come from the Politicians themselves.
In the short time that Boris has been in power he has torn up the rule book and made himself the arbiter of who can and can’t be sacked, including himself.
He has ignored and overturned decisions of the Parliamentary Select Committees which oversee the behaviour of MPs as well as his Standards Officers.
He does hold himself or others accountable, which led to the Owen Patterson fiasco, Pritti Patel etc.
There are decent Tory MPs who want him out and say so publicly.
Who has the List?
Well Dominic has everything up to the day he left and also the forward plans.
He is a SPAD, so not subject to either Parliamentary or Civil Service Rules.
Boris has also thrown out Senior Civil Servants and Politicians, who are not happy wombles.
There has been a string of resignations, recently Lord Frost and Van Tamm.
@swimfeeders Swimmy I wondered if Professor Sir Jonathan Van-Tam’s resignation is connected to the ‘goings on’ at number 10, he comes across to me as a no nonsense man of integrity and I can imagine it must be difficult for him to remain in a position where he has to support the government .
