You are out in the countryside and you witness a spacecraft crash

I think I’d see if there was a village shop I could dash to and by some tin foil. Cover myself in it, go back and try to blend in saying, “Klaatu barada nikto” (well Gort knew what it meant).

I’d get my handy squirty bottle and rag out and offer to clean their windscreen for the price of a cup of tea.

Well, we don’t know if life exists on other planets, but I’m sure some form of life exists, even if it’s at an algae stage, as for travelling across the universe, we’ll, imagine a Labrador trying to operate a washing machine, the technology is beyond it, so, advanced civilisations may have discovered wormholes or some other propulsion system, maybe someday we’ll find out…

You are out in the countryside and you witness a spacecraft crash.

The first thing to do is make sure you close all gates behind you as you go to check the accident scene. Next, make sure you keep your dog on it’s lead if any livestock are in fields. And ensure that the driver of the mentioned spacecraft clears up any litter they may have inadvertently dropped during the accident.

The countryside code is not just for picnics, it’s for alien invasions too.

No we won’t Primus… :009:
With AI you can produce whatever you want see…
And believe it…

And AI is used to detect new planets and work out which ones might have life on them…

Ah…but can we believe what it actually tells us Primus?
Isn’t AI based on human intelligence?
And merely takes it’s examples from the things we programme into it, and creates conclusions and graphics from those examples?

think some of those aliens have snook into this forum, and they speak drivel

That strikes me as a good question at that. I had a short read up on this and found that:
AI often uses neural networks (of different types) and to an extent these neural networks attempt to mimic a function of the human brain. However rather than AI having human intelligence, its the application of these neural networks that provide a version of how the brain works (at a neural level). The different types of neural networks either repeatedly analyse data, or compare data to similar held in memory, or filter and then later re-gather data. All of these function allow AI to conduct text & voice recognition, or speech mimicry, or create visual images - as well as the data analysis.
So sort of based on human intelligence but functioning very differently and much faster. But:
“The chilling thing is – what experts found alarming already in the ’80s – we do not know how the machine reasons. This is called the black box effect, referring to the problem that data goes into the system, which in return processes it and as an output generates new data. But we do not know how exactly it processed the data.”
Of course that might be a reasonable mimicking of human intelligence - as in “I have really no idea how you came to that conclusion”.

That is the premise of religion. Take an imagined concept & believe it absolutely. Some even believe they see / hear the imagined deity or their agent. No AI is required.

I think god spoke to me once, he told me to go forth and multiply, only not in so many words…

Funnily enough, what happened to me was that I spoke to god a couple of times when I was younger. I used that big white ceramic telephone - and spoke in mystical voices. I do not recall getting any meaningful reply at the time but the next morning I had certainly been touched. Hard. On the head.

For some people they may well “hear” something that is way beyond our ken of understanding. I think we should respect their views, unless it interferes with the rest of us.

A few days ago I went on one of those AI famous links or whatever it is called and asked it some fish hobby questions and yes all I got back was common knowledge but I think the concern is AI in time takes off on its own .

As I understand the way AI works best, the trick is to craft a good “prompt”. The better phrased (in AI instruction terms) the prompt the better the response back. That, and its more than just a search tool.

Well Cash is going as is Landlines, FGS Folks, don’t these disappear

Apparently, AI takes more power to run than a small city…I can see future problems with supply.

I saw on some news channel actually think it was Bill Maher that some people are " dating " AI online .

I am a strange person so admit that but I will never understand humans ESPECIALLY " todays generation "

While back I was at some place that you get gas and they have terrific smoothies so besides gas bought 2 smoothies to go ( coconut and cheesecake smoothie ) the cashier asked me if I was paying with A or B cards in other words two cards / forms of payment I never heard of .

I told him I was paying with cash and he looked taken back . I’m 72 I look 72 not 22 so I was also taken back by him as would think older people still use cash .

Must say delicious smoothies and will go back again , pay cash .
