“More wine” is a perfectly reasonable question, but "More wine, or … ", has connotations.

‘‘To tell the truth’’ and '‘To be honest with you’’
I always want to say the alternative is lying and I don’t think you would want to admit to that …

‘‘Going forward’’ people rarely go backwards…

‘‘We need to have a conversation about…’’ is that the same as we need to talk about…

These phrases are as good or bad as any other expression. Isn’t all that getting ridiculous because this list can be endless. Why should other people care if these words are dismissed by some for purely subjective reasons?
I wondered which words and expressions can still be used without other people being put off or even offended? A list of those would be more interesting and satisfying, wouldn’t it?
Ahh, what about those question tags? Also a no-go?
