How come we are being bombarded with adds to save water all of a sudden?
Perhaps it’s because there is a shortage due to so many data centres being constructed.
Or perhaps the amount of water the fashion industry uses.
Or is it the fact that there are millions of new houses being built across the country.
And if it is the same as round here it must be more than millions.
I remember in the mid 1970s We were advised to share our baths/showers to save water…and if My memory serves Me right,My Husband and I saved a LOT of water that Year

I was going to say it’s all because of the recent heatwave and dry summer and the worry over a forthcoming low rainfall winter but I see what you mean about the fashion industry though I would never have believed it.

I thought most of the clothes in the shops are made outside the UK, so it seems unlikely that this is the cause of the fears of water shortages.
Perhaps its the droughts in some parts of the country - and after drought any rain simply runs off the hardened land. Plus its quite hard to move large volumes of water from up north to down south.
Perhaps its decades of under-investment in the water infrastructure by the private water companies. So leaks, insufficient reservoirs, etc.
Perhaps its individual water consumption - it seems Denmark people use 40% less water each than in the UK. Apparently placing a brick in your cistern helps, or shorter time in showers. But then their water is significantly more expensive…
Perhaps its the need (not my word but apparently its a need) to build huge data centres for AI. Or to irrigate golf courses. All of which is done with the highest quality drinking water…
With all of the house building in Yorkshire over the last ten years where is all the water coming from to supply all the new houses?

My Yorkshire Water Bill has almost doubled since 2015 with the biggest rise of £200 last year.
How much more money from the new customers have Yorkshire water being earning when you consider the high cost of water now?
Save water? They can do one!
And for the record, there has been no shortage of water in the region this summer, not even a hosepipe ban.
