What is the longest train trip you have experienced?

Wakefield to London and that was long enough :stuck_out_tongue:

I was very young. I donā€™t even remember where it was. It might have been in Canada. I just remember that it was overnight and not too pleasant. One night was more than enough for me.

Newport to Southend probably!

Surely when most of us were younger train was the only way we went on holiday?

Remember hurriedly pulling the leather strap to close the window when the whistle was blown for going through a tunnel?

As a pre teen and early teen I travelled to various Butlinsā€™ by train with my parents, the one in Ireland required a train trip to north Wales to catch the ferry. Donā€™t ask me why we went to different Butlins because they were all the same!

Each year I went to stay with my aunt and uncle in Suffolk, my parents would put me on the train in Folkestone, another uncle would meet the train in London and take me to the other station (Liverpool St?) and see me off on the train to Bury St Edmunds where my uncle would meet me. A few weeks later a repeat in the opposite direction.

Southend is on the east coast of England.

The train from Newport (South Wales) to Southend usually takes 4 hours 21 minutes on average to travel 159 miles (256 km),involving three trains, the middle one of which is a tube train,
Was a cricket trip to see Glamorgan play Essex.

We travel by train when possible in preference to driving, just for days out. Itā€™s Itā€™s nice to see the countryside roll by. Drive only to the train station and park there. Havenā€™t done much of that this year due to circumstances but we will hopefully start train travel again soon.
