Hi
Sand tiger sharks eat their siblings in the womb
Takes survival of the fittest to a whole new level doesnāt it.
An Interesting Revelation They must also be Taste conscious.
Lest the species would be Distinct.
Hi
Absolutely great to have caught up with you again.
I have missed your intelligence, wit and directness.
@swimfeeders ⦠ah, youāre a luv for saying that. Youāve made my day ā¦weekā¦month ⦠whole of 2025. Iāve missed seeing you around too.
We had what experts say sand shark attacks last week .
" * Two teenagers and a woman were injured in two shark attacks less than two hours apart in the Florida Panhandle. The woman lost her lower left arm and suffered āsignificant traumaā to other areas of her body.
- A 40-year-old man was attacked by a shark while surfing at a Florida beach. He was bitten on his right forearm while surfing off New Smyrna Beach.āā
The indigo snake is native to Florida and Florida being what it is , it is illegal to kill one HOWEVER not illegal to build countless miles of golf courses , etc where they are found thus they are endangered .
All these ridiculous " studies " and old timers raised here will tell you development is why the indigo has perished because they like dry areas which are always being turned into golf course or developments not muddy Everglades and marsh areas .
I like snakes in the 80s had an albino Ruthven Kingsnake and Arizona Mountain King , both lived roughly 15 to 18 years , had them separate of course , fed them thawed quails and mice I would buy already frozen .
If I was 10 years younger would get another snake .
Indigos whether from Texas or Florida where legally sold in pet stores till mid to late 70s which was the time pet trade began to have regulations but indigos were not rare in that time as development was a fraction of what it is now .
''The eastern indigo snake (Drymarchon couperi ) is a federally threatened species that historically occurred in southeastern Mississippi, southern Alabama, southern Georgia and throughout Florida. Despite its protected status, very little is known about indigo snake population trends in Florida or elsewhere in its range. This information is necessary to detect locations where populations have declined, determine potential causes for declines and identify areas that require special management for this species.

Hope is Indigos which love to eat other snakes as much as I love blood pudding / sausage ( could eat it daily ) take a toll on baby pythons which are found all over South Florida not just Everglades and perhaps also eat cobras .
I have snakes in my yard now and then mostly native corns , water snakes and garter snakes but what a delight it would be to see a cobra .
''Cobra Species Found in Florida
Florida is home to several species of cobras, which are venomous snakes known for their distinctive hoods and deadly bites. These cobras have been introduced to the state either through accidental or intentional release by pet owners.
While encounters with cobras in Florida are relatively rare, it is important to be aware of the different species that can be found in the area.āā
Mainly South Florida
South Florida, with its subtropical climate and diverse ecosystems, provides an ideal habitat for cobras. The warm and humid conditions create a favorable environment for these snakes to thrive. Counties such as Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach are known to have populations of cobras.
Blimey ⦠sounds terrifying. Thank goodness in the UK we only have hairy garden spiders and cute bats and not nasty snakes.
Add that to tornadoes and hurricanes Iād die of fright if I lived in the USA.
Iām afraid of hurricanes and tornadoes but in Miami it is hurricanes which can happen and yes worried but snakes I LOVE and the non native exotics including parrots simply make my day .
I wish we also had wild hedgies like you have in UK .
I havenāt seen a hedgie for ages . There doesnāt seem to be so many of them around now, but, yes, theyāre cute and wrap around your hand if you donāt pick them up right.
Parrots, I love their vibrant colours. They must be a pleasure to watch.
Oh yes parrots are beautiful , by Key West not far from Hemmingway house there are Macaws and cockatoos nesting .
In my area only love birds , parakeets , Conures and Quakers and interestingly enough over decades all a dull green color not the vibrant different colors you see in pet stores .
Also here but not nice ā
I think protected in UK ?
Your dog seems to have a bullet proof vest on him are you in the USA where daily shootings are the norm ?

No, it is just coat. rather than a lead. It makes it gentler. The red poppy is for remembrance day. And thank you for asking.

I think protected in UK ?
Yup, they are and sadly their numbers are declining.
There used to be wild boar too but now thereās only domesticated pigs ⦠like myself.
Whereās your furry companion gone? Those hedges must be Triffids

Could be ! But maybe more interesting is that it is The Roman Road near us. And, sadly, Max, my dog. died. We now have this gentle wee lass:
Their numbers are declining due to habitat loss ,increase in cars running them over or both ?
I would think hedgies when faced with a car rely on their protection not knowing it will not work against a car much like armadillos do here .
