welcome GardenGal (Beth) to this section of the forum.
I am absolutely hopeless about anything to do with gardening. For this part of the UK have one large enough to keep “er indoors” busy and out of my hair 
I did do a bit of work that needed attention when we moved into this house about 10 years ago / there was an old wood rack
that needed taking down and it was built like a german shit house,so took a bit of demolition to get rid of. I wanted to use the space for a green house.
project started at last and removed 60 large plastic bags to get a decent foundation
Then I could start the build with a decent sub base
followed by paving slabs
now ready for new glass greenhouse
From here onwards the boss “er indoors” takes over and fills it with plants and veg,
I did find a worm and could not decide which was the head or the tail, So I tickled it in the midle to see which end laughed
