Watching Doc Martin and one thing that is brought home to me

There is no way could I live in a place like Portwenn.
I require anonymity. Portwenn is so small, the shops and services are too intimate.
Everyone knows everyone else’s business, probably because there is little else to do.
I really do not enjoy being scrutinised as soon as I walk in the door of an establishment.
As I have mentioned previously, I would happily live a hermit lifestyle.

Beautiful scenery though Bretrick. And there would be no need to come on a forum, you could just go down the pub.
Me personally (a bit like you) would prefer my own company and would spend all my days walking the South West Coast Path…

I live in a city of 2.2 million people.
I do not walk into stores if there are no customers inside.
Because the staff make a beeline for you out of boredom and wanting to make a sale.

I always feel uncomfortable if I’m the only one in a shop Bretrick… :009:
If an assistant approaches me while I’m looking at something I have to walk out.

I always say, “I am just looking for now, thank you.”

I think if you live in a place like this you get used to the friendliness however reticent you are at first and start to miss it when you go to the big city

I absolutely loved watching Doc Martin and all that beautiful scenery, by the sea!
I wouldn’t mind living in a place like Port Isaac, which I believe is the real name of the location, its so pretty and quiet, lovely little houses and the nearest town is not too far away, a perfect place in my opinion.
I grew up in a bustling city - London - but I’m by far happier now living in my little village in the hills and only 15km away from nearest town, but if it was on the coast it would be perfect.
