Van Morrison

Lyrics:

The sun was setting over Avalon
The last time we stood in the west
Suffering long time angels enraptured by Blake
Burn out the dross
Innoncence captured again
Standing on the beach at sunset
And all the boats keep moving slow
In the glory of the flashing light
In the evenings glow
When will I ever learn
To live in God?
When will I ever learn?
He gives me everything I need and more
When will I ever learn?
You brought it to my attention
That everything was made in God
Down through centuries of great writings and paintings
Everything lives in God
Seen through architecture of great cathedrals
Down through the history of time
Is and was in the beginning
And evermore
Shall ever be
When will I ever learn
To live in God?
When will I ever learn?
He gives me everything I need and more
When will I ever learn?
Whatever it takes to fulfill the
Main change was to delete the is mission
That is the way we must go
But you’ve got to do it your own way
Tear down the old
Bring up the new
And up on the hillside it’s quiet
Where the shepherd is tending his sheep
And over the mountains and the valleys
And the countryside is so green
Standing on the highest hill with a sense of wonder
You can see everything is made in God
Head back down the roadside
And give thanks for it all
When will I ever learn
To live in God?
When will I ever learn?
He gives me everything I need and more
When will I ever learn?
When will I ever learn
To live in God?
When will I ever learn?
He gives me everything I need and more
When will I ever learn?
When will I ever learn
To live in God?
When will I ever learn?
He gives me everything I need and more
When will I ever learn?

Minx. Did you know that when Brian Keenan and John McCarthy were held in captivity for 4? years Brian Keenan helped to keep them going by singing Vans songs. .

Interesting video with this too

Minx. I like your sailor quote. Being a sailor myself I totally agree with that quote.

I can’t believe it’s over 50 years ago I first heard Moondance.

No Petra, I didn’t know that. What can I say, that’s Van the Man for you, always an inspiration! Love his music!

Oh my gosh Petra! That’s awesome! Do you sail at sea? I sail as well. But I haven’t for a while. I had a Dart 18 but my kids are older and it’s lonely sailing on my own. I just hire one if I go to the dam. I haven’t graduated to the sea as yet.

And yet his music is ageless. He’s just awesome and brings back lovely memories

Early Van.

Astral Weeks is one of my all time favourite albums and by far his best in my opinion.

Hi Minx. I only sail on other peoples boats now. I had my own gaff cutter in the 60s. We lived onboard for 20 years ( not a sailing boat)
I often crewed Thames Barges: look them up, I think you’ll like them.
I’ve sailed across to Holland, France, Belgium many times.
We spent a year taking our own boat ( our home) through the French canals and rivers through to the Mediterranean.

Not cos its Van, but this is probably the greatest song ever.

Another great song! Vintage Van Morrison

Lovely addition. I have so many favourites!

Hi Petra, oh my word! I’m so jealous! You must have some awesome memories from all your experiences. I’ve always wondered how it would be to live on a barge along the Thames!
