Ukraine and Moldova to Given EU Candidate Status

Rebuild it with other peoples money.

If Germany or rather the EU did it, wouldn’t that be “other people’s money” from your perspective?

Let the Russians have it.

Yes

The EU doesn’t itself have any money they use other countries.you won’t have a choice either you will just get told to pay for it whether you like it or not.

Ukraine are still waiting for those helmets Germany promised … doesn’t look good

The EU should stop funding Putin

It is not for other countries to decide that but for Ukraine itself if it wants to be occupied by the Russians.

The member states are the EU. The EU has got the money its member states have agreed to pay in. After all, membership is optional. I agree, though, that there are way too many member states that all wanted to be part of the EU. No one forced them. Things will get worse, though, if a couple of Balkan states are allowed to join. That should be prevented.
Doesn’t look good? Has Germany ever looked good? Asking for helmets as a country that produces them itself was indeed ridiculous.
The EU will stop funding Putin.

In a way it is up to others, if left to their own fate with out the west’s arms what would happen do you think.

Nope The EU is the commission who govern the 27 remaining member states. The EU commission receives the member states contributions and controls how much each will pay. Those contributions will go through the roof and with it fines for non-payment.

If the UK was still part of the UK we would be prevented from supporting Ukraine as the EU controls all member states foreign policy. They want to protect Germanys manufacturing by keeping the gas supplies from Russia in tact - they are doing it now and paying Putin 40 billion a month to do it.

The UK are making the EU look silly and helpless, (which they are) and instead using theater and stupid stunts like Macron visiting zolensky and wearing badges and weird ellow and blue clothes.

Hi

Not entirely in agreement with you Bread, but you do make some very valid points.

In particular, those about Germany.

The EU would be a very different, more amenable place without Germany.

Germany, by far the richest EU Country, refuses point blank to pay it’s share of NATO.

It should remember what happened the last time it took on Russia.

Next time round Germany will be on it’s own and Russia can have it.

The Russians lost 20 million people in WW2 and they have long memories.

When the Ukraine has gone, Germany which is not supporting the Ukraine, should remember what it did to the Polish in WW2.

Poland will just declare open skies so the Russians can bomb and Cruise Missile Germany as it wants and if it fancies, do an amphibious Invasion from the Baltic.

The Polish hate the Germans far more than they hate the Russians.

Russia should have won this by now.

They aren’t the force we were lead to believe, they are being beaten by what is basically, the Ukraine farmers union

What puzzles me is that gas pipeline that runs through part of Ukraine which is funding Putin’s war. Why is it still intact? I expected it to be subjected to attack weeks ago🤷‍♂️

Agree. I was referring to your earlier post. What sense does it make for the West to support it and then say “let the Russians have it” as you put it?

Have member states been forced to join the EU or have they applied for membership?

Hi

Nope.

The Ukrainians are fearsome resistance fighters, a genuine force to be reckoned with.

They beat the Nazis in WW2 and will take casualties.

Brave as they are, and they are fantastic, the UK would not have put up such a resistance, they are dependant on foreign weapons.

Warfare has changed, main battle tanks are now vulnerable to tiny drones, which can be produced in numbers and swarm them.

Long Range Artillery has been replaced by incredibly accurate Multiple Launch Missiles.

The Ukraine has been a huge test ground for both sides.

The fasted to react will be the winners.

The West is faster to react than the Russians, but the Russians have far more firepower than the West has and they do not bother about causalities, the West does.

Russia has both surprised and disappointed our Military Planners.

We need to respond very quickly in order to win this.

Germany has taken a value decision, the Ukraine and Poland can go as long as it gets gets cheap gas from Russia.

Time to blow up the pipelines and support infrastructures.

We can beat Russia, we cannot beat Russia and Germany combined.

Nord stream 2 goes around Ukraine. Deliberately to avoid paying Ukraine transport taxes

Doesn’t matter.

It is what it is

Eu membership for Ukraine will mean them having to give away some of their country to Russia

Watch the EU start negotiating on their behalf, without their permission.

Therein lies a problem of the West’s own making .Either all in and fight or not bother .

I still cant understand why some enterprising Ukrainians have not popper over and blown the steelwork to kingdom come.

Well, this week UK’s new army general warned what remains of his army
they must be prepared to fight in Europe ??
Who is he kidding ??
It will take several years to rebuild enough forces to engage in full scale
warfare even if we had the money and political will to do so ??
We are unable to even keep out a few unarmed invaders in rubber boats
from our country !!
Donkeyman! :-1::-1:
