When l was at school, a friend bought me a record token for my birthday and l bought ‘Sailor’ by Petula Clark.
It was the first record l ever bought.
My favourite song by Petula is, Downtown.

The film is very non PC now, but if you aren’t easily offended by tobacco growing & a bit of racist thinking, not from the main characters & it is amusingly done, then you’ll enjoy it.
I think it has a good story, though some would be offended by it.

Easy listening at it’s very best.

My older sister had a dress like that and I was so envious, too young Mum said to wear it.

but in todays musical scenes she wouldn’t cut mustard heh??

Yes I can remember all the words even after all these years.

I was really fond of my sailor but he had to keep going to sea. Then one time he came back after six weeks at sea & I’d met Tony - so goodbye sailor.

Thanks Art - yes I think I’m getting better now.

I thought she was happily married or did her husband die?
Was her married surname Wolff?

Sacha Distel was yummy… lovely twinkling eyes!

she is still married to Claude wolff, but is in a relationship with another man.

singin frome a different tune sheet then?

Happy Birthday to Petula Clark 90 today , :birthday:

I know this will probably sound a bit weird but over 25 years ago my late Mum had bowel cancer and had to have a colostomy and wear a bag. I vividly remember a nurse reassuring my Mum and saying “even Petula Clark has one you know.” Then when she was home and another stoma nurse visited she said the same. Never knew whether this was true or whether they were trying to Make my Mum feel better.
