Too many acronyms taking over

I’ll have a Google Foxy. In the meantime if any of our internet savvy members could provide a heads up it would be appreciated :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

well why write in any style in particular??

I guess just personal choice

Of course the same people who think using acronyms is ‘sheer laziness’ probably think same about using emojis

Because those acronyms had been used before emojis came up.

BTW I’d rather write BTW than By The Way or PS rather than Post Script.

Acronyms are great for today’s form of communication, which is mostly all in the written word, not spoken. But like everything else, let’s not go over the limit.
They help to shorten posts and make it easier also for the writer, adding a bit of spice too, why not? As long as future generations don’t forget the real meanings and start talking that way in normal face-face-face communication

Well after reading some of your posts I realise that acronyms are alright if everyone can understand what they mean…Like: OGF - NHS - NASA - and WTF
:face_with_hand_over_mouth:
But if I were to write: TMTTF how many people would know what I was on about…?
So lets keep them to the more commonly used ones…

Maybe I would. You meant Tetra-methyl-tetra-thia-fulvalene which reminds me of my chemistry classes, too.

In the old days cockneys, when up to no good, would talk to their chums down the rub-a-dub-dub in rhyming slang. Outsiders wouldn’t understand. Today youngsters dealing drugs or stolen mobiles, text one another using acronyms that no one outside the gang understand.

If your meaning me your very wrong.

Well, maybe you think acronyms are sheer laziness but emojis are not - but I actually meant in general, there are often the same people who think both are.

But some people think anything different to their own style is wrong so there is that.
